Early Talent Rotational Programs at Takeda offer college graduates the unique opportunity to experience rotations with a strong focus on personal development, mentorship, networking, leadership, and technical skill-building. Early Talent Program members begin their Takeda careers in a supportive, structured environment that encourages self-directed learning and promotes accelerated growth. Upon successful completion of all rotations, a senior leader ambassador will guide the graduate to identify the next step in their Takeda career. 

The Operations Development Program (ODP) is a 27-month rotational program that provides valuable experiences across Takeda’s Global Manufacturing & Supply and Global Quality (GMSGQ) function. This rotational program is comprised of three (3), nine (9) month rotations in various US locations (including, but not limited to MA, GA, CA, MN, and IL).

Program features include:

  • ODP Associates are assigned peer and executive mentors during the program to help introduce them to Takeda’s culture, the values and goals of the ODP.
  • Through formal training and on-the-job experiences, the program is committed to developing associate‘s technical, leadership, and teamwork skills while exposing them to Takeda’s technologies, product lines, and global markets.
  • ODP Associates attend an annual Summit event with all rotational program members across Takeda’s programs for collaboration, development, and networking.

Rotations are assigned based on business needs and matched with employee skills and development goals. Assignments are designed to challenge ODP Associates to adapt and add value to each position quickly. ODP Associates will be responsible for learning and understanding various aspects of their rotational assignment.

The Rotations can be specific to a site-based operation or globally focused operation, such as Network Strategy, Business Excellence, and Product Operations.  Below are a few  examples of rotational options:

  • Engineering – learn how to develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods by utilizing knowledge of product design, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, quality control standards, and soliciting observations from operators. Will also learn equipment commissioning process (e.g. developing URS, FRS, DDS, performing FAT/SAT, FMEA and qualification).
  • Manufacturing—responsible for learning, understanding and leading manufacturing processes and/or team as well as support systems that ensure quality and on-time delivery of product in a safe manner.
  • Quality —ensure adequate adherence and deployment of quality systems such as batch record review, product release, change control, exception management, and product annual reviews.
  • Supply Chain—learn distribution, purchasing, warehouse operations and planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Project Management—responsible for learning and understanding all aspects of project management as it applies to project execution on critical facility project(s). The areas in which ODP Associates will run the project(s) will include but not be limited to Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Management and Information Systems.
  • Product Operations –support team in translating commercial and portfolio/product strategy into manufacturing operations strategy. This would include future capacity requirements and market expansion focus. Gain understanding and exposure to a global environment by supporting various aspects of commercial products. (e.g. product strategy plan, brand plan, long range forecast, developing and presenting business cases to governance bodies, program risk register, and more).
  • Network Strategy – responsible for owning and maintaining the long range production planning and capacity modeling database, working cross-functionally to update the model with the latest process information, developing scenarios to understand investment prioritization for Global Manufacturing Supply, and improving visualization for data modeling.

Program Timeline

  • The program start date for the next ODP cohort is Monday, July 26, 2021.
  • Expected program completion date is October 2023.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical) or Hard Sciences (Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology). The degree to be completed before the expected program start date.
  • 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • Must be a US citizen, lawful permanent resident of the US, or otherwise authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Minimum 1 relevant internship and/or co-op experience required.


  • Passion for improving patients lives and healthcare advancement
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication, organization, prioritization of tasks and behaviors that contribute to positive team dynamics
  • Critical/analytical thinking that drives conclusions and problem resolution
  • A self-starter with demonstrated campus and/or community leadership experience
  • Exhibits leadership skills including personal accountability, decision quality, customer focus, drive for results, with integrity and trust
  • Geographic mobility and willingness to potentially rotate through different US regions
  • Flexibility and willingness to try different roles in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, experience with cross-cultural and virtual collaboration environments preferred

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work under pressure

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.

Working Environmentapplicable to manufacturing site-specific rotations

  • Must be able to work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet, and body.
  • No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the controlled work environment.
  • May be working in an area that requires protective equipment to be worn.
  • May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and celite that may require respiratory protection.
  • May be required to work or be assigned to a different shift as needed.
  • Inside working conditions.
  • Some Clean Room and cool/hot storage conditions.
  • 5% travel
