Job Description

ROLE OBJECTIVE

Communication:

  • The Head of Communications ensures all internal and external communication within the cluster is managed effectively and efficiently, positions the LOC / MCO in the market, drives Employee Experience through communicative channels, plans and executes all local communications activities including media communication in line with communication and compliance policy.
  • Collaboration with other communication teams as well as Regional Communications to ensure that initiatives can be synergized, coordinated and leveraged wherever possible 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Internal communication

  • Serve as a single point of contact for communications related inquiries including governance of cross-functional / BU news flow
  • Provide strategic communications consultancy and hands-on support to internal business partners in conceptualizing and executing selected functional / BU campaigns
  • Strong business partner to HR to support with employee communication related to employee motivation, engagement, employee comm platform and EVP initiatives.
  • Strategic input into HR and Compliance collaboration within the local sites, provide thought leadership to wider business issues
  • Provide communications support to Sr. Management, e.g. creation of speeches, research and content creation for talking opportunities, etc.
  • Manage calendar of activities encompassing all business and LOC-driven communication
  • Manage cluster Town Halls
  • Manage site-related offline and online channels: Yammer, LOC specific myTakeda intranet (cf. below), banners, posters, TV screens, etc.
  • Maintain cluster Intranet pages - develop intranet channel in a manner that encourages other functions to utilize autonomously
  • Ensure compliance with applicable communications policies and procedures (e.g. for social media)

Communications planning

  • Ensure compliance with Takeda corporate branding
  • Facilitate and support awareness of brand guidelines for appropriate brand management to enhance and reinforce Takeda’s positioning and reputation amongst key stakeholders, via:
  • Support with innovative communication platforms the LOC’s / ECO’s Roadmap (the strategic plan for the country); specifically, with the shift towards being a leading bio-pharmaceutical player and the associated shift in mindset to this goal
  • Development of strategy and associated plans to enhance the reputation of the company’s local senior management team, collectively and as individuals
  • Ensuring local plans align with global / regional strategy
  • Maintaining two-way dialogue with key internal/ external stakeholders, as appropriate (e.g. input their needs into developing corporate communication and marketing plans and, in turn, to generate advocacy for the company’s activities)

SKILLS and LEADERSHIP CAPABILITIES

Critical Skills and Competencies

  • Highly developed English and Arabic written and oral communications skills are essential
  • Strong management, planning and implementation skills, as well as a creative and effective approach to problem solving
  • Understanding of trends in the communications sector
  • Agility to learn, curiosity and external awareness, willingness to listen and rethink status quo
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders (internal & external), in a global, multicultural and diverse environment
  • Established and proven external and/or internal communications capabilities
  • Demonstrate a commitment to best practice and application of leading-edge communications strategies along with the understanding of the opportunities presented by digital and social media platforms, in line with global strategy  
  • The highest degree of integrity, transparency and adherence to ethics standards in all activities

Experience and Education

  • Academic qualifications (e.g. post-graduate degree in communication management, public relations, journalism, corporate affairs or similar)
  • Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in a healthcare or pharmaceutical communications environment either agency or in-house
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally, such as media, patients/PAGs and KOLs
  • Experience and exposure in international settings
  • Fluency in English, Arabic & French (mandatory)
