Job Title:                                 Ethics and Compliance Manager UK & Ireland MCO

Reports to:                             Ethics and Compliance Director

Department:                         Ethics and Compliance

Job Function:                        Responsible for supporting Ethics and Compliance Director in all aspects of ethics and compliance initiatives relevant to ABPI/IPHA and EUCAN requirements. Responsible for taking the lead in day to day running of compliance programmes and systems including the digital landscape.

Key accountabilities:

Responsible for supporting the Ethics and Compliance Director in the implementation of the annual promotional compliance plan including the provision of annual Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) Code of Practice (‘the Code’) refresher training. Responsible for identifying, authoring and implementation of  Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development / updates in line with the Code and  other relevant regulations and laws and EUCAN requirements Responsible for taking the lead for compliance support in the digital landscape Support the Ethics and Compliance Director in the review and approval of cross border requests. Work effectively with Takeda’s European network Support  Ethics and Compliance Director in the implement and tracking of  training programs and systems to support EUCAN’s Ethics and Compliance Programmes and systems  Build and maintain networks with people across Takeda UK & Ireland to identify areas of risk or knowledge deficiencies and, in consultation with the Ethics and Compliance Director, develop and implement customized training strategies to meet those needs Provide daily guidance and counsel on ethics and compliance policy interpretation and implementation Conduct routine monitoring of business activities and periodic risk assessments

Person Specification

  • Educated to A-level standard or equivalent, including GCSE’s in English and Mathematics.

Education to Degree level


  • 2 years’ experience within the Pharmaceutical Industry, specifically working in compliance or compliance related role
  • Good understanding of the importance of compliance to regulations and industry codes and experience working in accordance with regulations and industry codes.
  • Experience of working to SOPs.
  • 3 years’ experience within the Pharmaceutical Industry, specifically working in compliance
  • Experience advising on SOP and local industry code of conduct and related requirements
