Job Description

Van Nuys, CA

Shift 1 6am-2pm Monday thru Friday

About the role:

Join Takeda as a Sr. Warehouse Driver at our Van Nuys location where you will monitor scheduled activities by shift concerning orders, door assignments, dispatch of trucks, and contract carrier supporting production and multiple departments daily. As part of the Logistics Team your will report to the Warehouse Supervisor.


How you will contribute:

  • Assist transportation functions by directing carrier drivers on empty trailer dropping and load pick-up processes

  • Operate and drive tractor-trailer combination

  • Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment and complete required documentation and reports

  • Hook/unhook trailers from a tractor

  • Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment

  • Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, including pallets, straps and rope

  • Complete documentation and shipping of Hazardous Materials in accordance to CFR 49, Section 100-180 (DOT, IATA, Customs).

  • Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch regarding delays, arrivals and equipment problems

  • May be asked to perform job responsibilities of a warehouse coordinator when operationally necessary

  • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, and company procedures

  • Complete bill of lading, packing list, seal assignment, and bar code assignments for each order

  • Help locate discrepancies and product misplacement

  • Comply with SOPs, GMPs, safety rules and regulations, and departmental procedures

  • Receive and fill orders and perform order status inquiry for all completed orders. Adjust orders

  • Fill and prepare inventory for transportation through material handlers and monitors progress throughout shift to assure efficient completion of tasks

  • Perform physical counts, cycle counts, and periodic inventory verification.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Proficient in warehouse management systems and pc environments.

  • Experience operating forklifts, PIT equipment, and other material handling equipment

  • Can work overtime

  • Can work in areas at +5C including storage freezer at –20C and exposure to human blood plasma

  • Have a Class A Commercial Driver's License and hazardous materials endorsement with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record

  • Must meet Department of Transportation regulatory requirements

  • Will count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Have 4 years of warehouse experience with documentation and computer working experience

Important Considerations

As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product or putting anyone at the site in harm's way. You may:

  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.

  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.

  • Work in a cold, wet environment.

  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours.

  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
