Job Description

About the role:

You will be a team member of the Automation Engineering group. The Automation Engineering group ensures that the automation system or equipment used in the manufacture, storage, testing, and distribution of Takeda products are fit for purpose following Takeda standards and industry regulatory requirements.

You will create and deliver tested computer programs solution for manufacturing electronic batch records according to the specifications provide by operation, quality or engineering group and schedules, supporting the manufacturing operations, engineering initiative and capital projects. Also you will provide support to other system supported by the engineering automation team which may include Emerson DeltaV(PCS), Allen Bradley PLC, Honeywell(BAS) OSI-PI plant historian, and others. The Engineer will implement area and system improvements through strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP's in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility.

How you will contribute:

  • Develop and review the automation of manufacturing process, support equipment and systems, design drawings and documents and equipment procurement packages

  • from concept to commissioning and validation.

  • Design and implement changes to batch-based control systems or electronic batch records while following validation and change control procedures.

  • Support continuous improvement, process optimization, reliability, expansion, and upgrade projects.

  • Update and develop User Requirement Specifications, Functional Specifications, Design Specifications, and Guidelines for all equipment and automation systems.

  • Develop and execute procedures for multiple control systems software configuration, hardware installation and back up and restoration.

  • Stay current with assigned SOPs and keep an up-to-date training file ensuring compliance with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Participate in small & medium size projects, perform assigned tasks, resolve non-complex problems, receive moderate direction, provide no direction to others, and have basic knowledge of SDLC.

  • Code, test, debug, and document programming application activities following SDLC processes, application processes and quality validation for small to medium projects.

  • Gather, understand, and document requirements, specifications and requirements on small/medium size projects.

  • Develop, support, and implement unit/system test cases, scripts and plans. Facilitate testing activities within the team.

  • Help develop detailed specifications from which you will write programs.

  • Define, design, and document business flow and processes on small & medium size projects.

  • Develop test requirements, prepare, and document test data for unit and system testing

  • Help support production systems.

  • Identify solutions to problems and trend and identify opportunities.

  • Increase exposure to the technical infrastructure.

  • Support user client inquiries and problems and address operational and program discrepancies during and after business hours.

  • Help develop training materials, and train users on new application functions

  • Provide hands-on technical support, diagnostics and troubleshooting functions to manufacturing operations and guide design improvements as applicable.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Bachelor's degree in in Sciences, Technology, Mathematic or Engineering and 2+ years of related experience.

  • Relational databases Knowledge (concepts and querying)

  • Familiarity with business process flow and/or entity relationship modeling.

  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel (can perform complex functions) PowerPoint and MS Project.

  • Have familiarity with industry standards for batch control systems, software development life cycle methodologies, 21 CFR Part 11, and GAMP.

  • Have knowledge in automation of pharmaceutical or food processing facilities.

  • Can work on shift as needed for issue escalation support.

  • Programming skills in technologies used. Knowledge of the systems development life cycle and technology infrastructure. Solid knowledge of the application development process.

Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:

  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.

  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.

  • Work in a cold, wet environment.

  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.

  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
