Job Description


The Commercial IT Project Manager role is accountable for the delivery of large and complex IT programs and projects within the Commercial IT domain. In his role the project managers runs the project from initiation, planning through execution and reports out the status of the individual projects to the leadership team. He is responsible to coordinate activities within the project team and esnures to connect with the IT business partnership organization for change management and value realization within the receiving commercial organization.


  • Supports the Portfolio Management decision process via project charters, scopes, risk assessment, budgets and IT value
  • Lead the initiation, planning and execution of IT projects and programs
  • Manage different kinds of projects (SCRUM, waterfall, stage-driven)
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Manage project budget and project resource allocation
  • Plan and schedule project timelines
  • Track project deliverables by using appropriate tools (MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet)
  • Provide direction and support to project team
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
  • Create quarterly reviews with centralized Portfolio and Finance teams


  • In depth knowledge of Project Management methodologies like Agile/ Scrum, Waterfall, etc. Preferred certified in SCRUM or other methodologies
  • Ability to to connect, orchestrate and influence different stakeholders from various departments and vendors to ensure programs/ projects are delivered in time, in budget and in expected quality to the end user


Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise(Breadth and depth of knowledge, application and complexity of technical knowledge)

  • Deep knowledge of Project Delivery Methodologies like Waterfall, SCRUM. Preferred PMI certified or other certification
  • Knowledge of Commercial IT programs like Veeva, Salesforce and Analytics solutions
  • Business Acumen in the Commercial space with Life Science focus

Leadership(Vision, strategy and business alignment, people management, communication, influencing others, managing change)

  • A stratgic mindset, able to take business priorities and deploy break through Commercial solutions
  • Able to clearly communicate and foster alignment in across all levels of the organisation
  • Able to create a work plan and to lead a team towards this work plan
  • Empowerment of direct reports to be successful in deploying Commercial solutions

Decision-making and Autonomy(The capacity and authority to make organizational decisions, autonomy in decision-making, complexity of decisions, impact of decisions, problem-soliving)

  • Ability to deploy solutions with a wide cross-functional team of colleagues and collaborate effectively
  • Able to influence stakeholders in a matrix organisation, with abiliy to ensure delivery of Commercial solutions at all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to analyze problems, collect information and recommend unbiased decisions in a timely manner

Interaction(The span and nature of one’s engagement with others when performing one’s job, internal and external relationships)

  • Able to clearly communicate and foster alignment across all levels of the organisation
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with team members in: Subject Matter Experts, Senior Management, System Integrators, IT Business Partners, Enterprise Architects.
  • Strong ability to build external partnerships with industry partners and suppliers

Innovation(The required level of scientific knowledge, knowledge sharing, innovation and risk taking)

  • Generates breakthrough solutions, and enables others to do the same

Complexity(Products managed, mix of businesses, internal and/or external business environment, cultural considerations)

  • Day-to-day decisions regarding design, development and implementation of Commercial solutions
  • Able to present issues and recommended solutions in a succinct manner to Global, Senior and Executive Management on a frequent basis
  • Manage relationships with key external 3rd party suppliers
  • Recommend and monitor spend for project budgets


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant Project leadership experience
  • Project management qualification or equivalent experience preferable.


  • Domestic and International Travel of up to 20% may be required from this position.
