Job Description

Recruitment function introduction

The Medical Lead (Scientific Director) is a scientific and clinical expert who masters Medical Affairs strategic planning process and implementation, notably focusing on the scientific exchange activities. She / he plays an integral role in developing the Japan Region Gastroenterology Medical Franchise Plan based upon environmental needs and voice of customers. She / he closely work and partner with other Japan Medical Office teams as well as with other Global and Regional Medical Affairs and Research and Development teams to excel in product (s) launch and life cycle management.

Role Description

  • Analyze the environment of Japan Region GI Medical Franchise, i.e. healthcare system, competitors, regulatory in/out Japan, clinical development plan, life cycle management and incorporate those into the strategy and plan.
  • Plan, Develop and Execute the scientific exchanges portion, as required, for Japan Region Gastroenterology (GI) Medical Franchise Strategy and Plan, e.g., Stand-alone Medical Conference, Sponsored Medical Symposium or Seminar, Medical Experts Meeting, Round Table meeting, Advisory Board Meeting.
  • Support the development of evidence generation portion, as requiredfor Japan Region GI Medical Franchise Strategy and Plan, e.g., Medical Affairs Company Sponsored Study (MACS), Collaborative Clinical Research (CCR), Post Marketing Surveillance (PMS), Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), Investigator Initiated Sponsored Research (IISR), dossiers for submission to Japan regulators.
  • Support evidence communication portion, as required for Japan Region GI Medical Franchise Strategy and Plan, e.g., abstract development, submission and presentation in Scientific forums, manuscript development, submission and publication, in relation to the evidence generation portion.
  • Back up the Japan Region GI Medical Franchise Head to co-chair Medical Matrix Team (MMT) and co-chair Product Strategy Team (PST) to ensure alignment with cross-functional Japan Medical Office teams and Business Unit partners, based on brand strategy for every product and project.
  • Engage KOLs, experts and Health Care Professionals based on Japan Region GI Medical Franchise Strategy and Plan.

Application Requirements

  • Relevant disease areas expertise (Clinical, Research, Academic), e.g., Gastroenterology and related areas, Immunology and related areas, Internal Medicine.
  • Clinical and scientific understanding of clinical trials, evidence generation and communication.
  • Awareness of the medical environment in Japan and of the needs of healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Must have relevant experiences in Medical Affairs
  • English language skills.



  • Medical degree, Pharmacy degree, PhD, Scientific Master degree.
