About the Role
The Cloud Engineer role is a key technical position responsible for shaping, building, and maintaining our AWS cloud foundation. You will play a critical role in architecting secure, scalable, and high‑performing cloud environments that support our products, platforms, and engineering teams. This role requires a deep understanding of AWS services, cloud‑native design principles, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and best practices for cost efficiency and operational excellence. This is an individual contributor role with a strong emphasis on hands‑on cloud engineering and infrastructure troubleshooting, rather than people management.
You will be responsible for driving cloud standards, building reusable Terraform modules, optimizing cloud spend, implementing governance guardrails, and ensuring our cloud footprint remains resilient, secure, and future‑ready. This role also involves collaborating closely with DevOps, Architecture, Security, and Development teams to support infrastructure provisioning, cloud automation, and environment lifecycle management.
The role requires deep, hands‑on troubleshooting capabilities across AWS infrastructure and cloud services, including diagnosing and resolving complex issues related to networking, compute, storage, security, and platform integrations.
As cloud adoption grows across the organization, you will influence strategic decisions, guide engineering teams on cloud best practices, and contribute to the evolution of our cloud architecture including emerging capabilities such as AI‑assisted SDLC and intelligent automation.
This position will align to the ICC and report to the infrastructure architect for strategic direction as well as day-to-day management.
How you will contribute:
- Design and implement scalable AWS cloud architectures using Terraform and cloud‑native best practices.
- Build and maintain reusable Terraform modules for standardized provisioning of AWS services.
- Lead cost optimization, rightsizing, and performance improvements across cloud workloads.
- Strengthen cloud security posture through IAM best practices, governance controls, and automation.
- Collaborate with DevOps, Architecture, and Engineering teams to support cloud adoption and environment provisioning.
- Drive reliability, monitoring, and operational excellence across all cloud platforms.
- Actively troubleshoot , support and advance product teams toward organizational goals by promoting managed services, standardization, and automation‑first cloud patterns.
- Support and integrate infrastructure workflows with CI/CD pipelines to enable automated, repeatable, and secure deployments of cloud resources.
- Enable cloud security and compliance through automated guardrails, policy‑as‑code, and infrastructure‑level controls in collaboration with DevSecOps teams.
- Provide hands‑on platform support for containerized workloads on EKS, including cluster architecture, networking, scaling, and operational troubleshooting.
- Leverage AI‑assisted tools to improve cloud operations, including cost analysis, incident triage, troubleshooting, and infrastructure optimization.
- Guide and influence product teams toward adoption of managed AWS services, standardized cloud patterns, and reduced operational overhead.
- Support integration with enterprise observability platforms to ensure end‑to‑end visibility across cloud infrastructure and application layers.
Roles and Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Infrastructure Engineering
- Design, build, and optimize AWS infrastructure using Terraform and cloud‑native architecture patterns.
- Develop reusable, version‑controlled Terraform modules for standardized service provisioning.
- Implement highly available architectures across compute, storage, databases, networking, and serverless workloads.
- Contribute to strategic cloud architecture decisions, ensuring alignment with scalability and reliability goals.
Cloud Security, Governance & Compliance
- Implement IAM best practices including least‑privilege access, role boundaries, and identity segmentation.
- Enforce cloud governance standards: tagging policies, guardrails, account structure, and compliance baselines.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement encryption, logging, auditing, and continuous compliance tooling.
- Conduct periodic cloud security posture reviews and remediate vulnerabilities.
Operations, Monitoring & Reliability
- Build operational dashboards, monitoring, and alerting using CloudWatch or APM tools.
- Hands‑on troubleshooting of AWS infrastructure issues, service disruptions, and performance bottlenecks across environments.
- Lead troubleshooting of cloud infrastructure issues, performance bottlenecks, and service disruptions.
- Drive operational excellence through automation, logging strategy, and proactive service scaling.
- Implement SRE‑aligned practices such as error budgets, resilience patterns, and incident response improvements.
Cost Optimization & Performance Management
- Analyze cloud usage and lead cost‑optimization initiatives, including rightsizing and reserved‑instance planning.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve resource efficiency, and forecast cloud spend.
- Work with product and engineering teams to ensure solutions balance cost with performance and reliability.
Platform Automation & Environment Enablement
- Automate environment provisioning, teardown, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Build self‑service capabilities for engineering teams through reusable templates and automated workflows.
- Integrate infrastructure workflows with CI/CD pipelines where applicable.
- Support onboarding of new services, application teams, and workloads into cloud environments.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Participate in architectural reviews, providing cloud best‑practice recommendations.
- Collaborate with DevOps, Architecture, Security, and Development teams on cloud adoption initiatives.
- Enable and guide product and engineering teams toward increased adoption of managed AWS services and reduced operational burden through technical best practices.
- Mentor engineers on AWS technologies, Terraform practices, and cloud design patterns.
- Support strategic initiatives including AI‑enabled SDLC, intelligent automation, and platform modernization.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
