Job Description

The Future Begins Here

At Takeda, we are leading digital evolution and global transformation. By building innovative solutions and future-ready capabilities, we are meeting the needs of patients, our people, and the planet.

Bengaluru, the city, which is India’s epicenter of Innovation, has been selected to be home to Takeda’s recently launched Innovation Capability Center. We invite you to join our digital transformation journey. In this role, you will have the opportunity to boost your skills and become the heart of an innovative engine that is contributing to global impact and improvement.

At Takeda’s ICC we Unite in Diversity

Takeda is committed to creating an inclusive and collaborative workplace, where individuals are recognized for their backgrounds and the abilities they bring to our company. We are continuously improving our collaborators’ journey in Takeda, and we welcome applications from all qualified candidates. Here, you will feel welcomed, respected, and valued as an important contributor to our diverse team.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Digital Health Design Lead owns the end-to-end design language, prototyping practice, and AI-assisted design workflow for Takeda's Digital Health Platform. Working inside the C5 platform team, this person creates and maintains the unified design system that all digital health products draw from, builds high-fidelity prototypes in Figma (and with generative-AI tools) to validate concepts quickly, and ensures every patient- and clinician-facing experience is coherent, accessible, and SaMD-compliant. This is a hands-on maker role with strategic influence: you will set the design standard that product teams follow, not just document guidelines.

Key Responsibilities :

Design System Ownership

  • Build, maintain, and evolve a single Figma-based design system (component library, tokens, patterns, page templates) that serves all C5 digital health products.

  • Define and enforce visual identity, typography, color, spacing, iconography, and interaction patterns so that every product feels like one family.

  • Create reusable, accessibility-compliant components with embedded human-factors metadata (IEC 62366 usage context, cognitive load annotations, error-state guidance).

  • Govern versioning, contribution rules, and release cadence for the design system; run quarterly audits to keep adoption high and drift low.

Rapid Prototyping & Concept Validation

  • Translate product briefs and clinical hypotheses into interactive Figma prototypes — from low-fidelity wireframes to pixel-perfect, clickable flows — within days, not weeks.

  • Use AI-assisted design tools (e.g., Figma AI features, generative UI tools, LLM-driven content drafting) to accelerate layout exploration, copy variation, and edge-case generation.

  • Build and run lightweight usability tests on prototypes with patients and clinicians, feeding findings back into both the prototype and the design system.

  • Maintain a living prototype library so stakeholders can always demo the latest concept without waiting for engineering.

AI & Intelligent Experience Design

  • Design the interaction patterns for AI-powered features (chatbots, predictive alerts, adaptive coaching, clinical decision support) ensuring they are explainable, trustworthy, and clinically appropriate.

  • Create prototypeable AI conversation flows, feedback loops, and trust-calibration UI that can be tested before engineering builds the model integration.

  • Partner with data science to visualize model outputs, confidence levels, and uncertainty in ways patients and clinicians can act on.

Compliance & Design Control Integration

  • Embed regulatory traceability into the Figma workflow: link components and screens to design history file (DHF) records, risk-management items, and usability requirements.

  • Collaborate with RA/QA to ensure prototypes and design artifacts satisfy SaMD (IEC 62304), MDR, FDA, and EU AI Act documentation expectations.

  • Contribute design inputs to Predetermined Change Control Plans (PCCPs) for AI-enabled products.

Cross-Functional Enablement

  • Run design sprints, workshops, and co-creation sessions with product managers, engineers, clinicians, and brand to align on experience direction early.

  • Train product teams on the design system, Figma conventions, and AI-prototyping workflows so they can self-serve for simple tasks.

  • Serve as the design conscience of the platform: review feature designs for coherence, accessibility, and brand alignment before they enter development.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s or master's degree in relevant field

  • 5+ years of product/UX design experience with at least 2 years focused on design systems at scale.

  • Expert-level Figma proficiency: auto-layout, variants, component properties, tokens, branching, and Dev Mode.

  • Demonstrated ability to go from blank canvas to testable prototype in under a week.

  • Background in digital health, pharma, or medical devices.

  • Experience designing AI/ML-powered interfaces — conversational, predictive, or adaptive — with attention to explainability and trust.

  • Strong facilitation skills: you run workshops and sessions, not just attend them.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with generative-AI design tooling (Galileo AI, Relume, ChatGPT/Claude for UX copy, Midjourney for concept art).

  • Working knowledge of SaMD regulatory requirements (IEC 62304, IEC 62366, ISO 14971) or comparable regulated-industry design experience

  • Front-end prototyping chops (HTML/CSS/JS or React) for higher-fidelity interactive demos.

  • Familiarity with GxP-regulated environments, design controls, or DHF documentation.

  • Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and assistive technology testing.

WHAT TAKEDA ICC INDIA CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Takeda is certified as a Top Employer, not only in India, but also globally. No investment we make pay greater dividends than taking diligent care of our people.

  • At Takeda, you take the lead on building and shaping your own career.

  • Joining the ICC in Bengaluru will give you access to high-end technology, continuous training, and a diverse and inclusive network of colleagues who will support your career growth.

BENEFITS:

It is our priority to provide competitive compensation and a benefit package that bridges your personal life with your professional career. Amongst our benefits are:
