The Opportunity
The EnterpriseArchitect for GPD (Global Portfolio Division) at Takeda will be a key architecture advisory roleas well as a key contributor to Takeda’s Enterprise Architecture vision by engaging in highly collaborative ways to understand and solve complex strategic challenges of their business domain while balancing the Enterprise guardrails and principles to enable Takeda to be an agile, efficient, best-in-class digital bio-pharmaceutical company. Backed by their strong business acumen of the Pharmaceutical or life sciences experience in key capability areas such as Commercial, Marketing, Medical, Market Access & Patient engagements and Digital Health along and theirtechnical knowledge to architect, design and recommend innovative solutions they will be managingthe architecture strategy of specific areas within GPD.
Key Responsibilities
Business Domain Architecture
Be a trusted advisor to the regional/functional leadership within GPD in developing and steering data and technology strategies within enterprise guardrails.
A compelling storyteller who can articulate complex technology concepts, their impacts, pros and cons to the business stakeholders and complex business challenges and unmet customer needs to their technology counterparts effectively.
Mediate and negotiate through often complexarchitecture conversations from different stakeholders from local, regional, global regardless ofbusiness or technology backgrounds to arrive at a neutral data-driven architectural decisions that balances all stakeholder needs and concerns.
Together with the Principal Enterprise Architect – GPD, drive their area to a common technology vision within Takeda through architecture simplification, application rationalization, and reduced cost in order to achieve synergies and business value, focusing in their assigned areas
Represent GPD and its areas in various Enterprise Architecture forums while driving alignment to common standards and guidelines
Lead the delivery of both defined and ad-hoc Enterprise Architecture services to an assigned business domain including the development of strategies and roadmaps
Develop and managekey Business Architectures such as business capability models, value streams, business processes, etc.
Lead and influence the development of capabilities which will drive effective business outcomes especially in the area of AI/ML, Generative AI and Agentic solutions within the commercial and marketing context
Architecture Governance (Standards & Guardrails)
Participate in the Enterprise Governance processes such as the Architecture Council by following the right technology introduction, standardizationand risk management practices in the assigned area.
Accountable for solution evaluation and selection, buy vs. build decisions, and early-phase project estimates which contribute to the business case.
Recommend novel architecture guidance and best practices to solutions that can leverage and maximize AI/ML/GenAI and Agentic in a safe and secure manner.
Consult to projects and application support groups regarding architecture related concerns and direction, as well as alignment to overall IT strategy.
Recommend and advocate target architecture, architecture strategy and vision and processes.
Gain acceptance of high-level design and detailed design documentation through enterprise and peer design reviews.
Create solutions that are aligned to architecture standards and principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet financial targets.
Regularlyshare their business expertise and learnings with an extended Architecture Community of Practice
Familiarity of Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, DODAF, etc.
Ability to define and develop Responsible AI, AI Ethics and explainability from the context of Architecture governance and approaches to embedding them in solutions.
Technical Architecture Skills
Well-rounded business acumen for the pharmaceutical or life sciences industries with depth in at least one business domains (for instance, Patient Engagements, Commercial, Marketing & Campaign Operations, Next Best actions, Launch Excellence,Medical Affairs and CRM (Veeva, Salesforce CRM,Marketing Automation), etc., and at least one technical architecture domain (eg: AI/ML/Data Science Tools, AWS, Mulesoft, Power platform, etc.)
Use in-depthknowledgeand experience with Architecture, design, data, system thinking, and standards together with and clear view offundamentals of architecture and Product Management to adviseon initiatives or solutions.
Design reference and application architectures based on specific business constraints, requirements and dependencies and produce reusuable patterns.
Design architecture components, including design and documentation of architecture relevant system or software changes or enhancements to all assigned systems.
Familiaritywith advanced AI/ML/Generative AI solutions using patterns such as RAG, GraphRAG, MCP, A2A,Langchain,LLMOps, etc.,
Review and identify gaps in architecture and solution designs, assess and define remediation efforts or mitigation options.
Drive cross domain initiatives that are supported by E2E Design, apply digital standards to project
Solution Architecture, and drive Technical Strategy and architectural tradeoff discussions.
Translate business requirements into technical requirements that the system analysts and other technical team members include in the project design and delivery.
Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT and predictive analytics
Familiarity with information management practices, regulatory requirements and data privacy laws, especially those that uniquely effect the pharmaceutical industry
Familiarity of architecting and scaling solutions in a highly agile product development frameworks such as SAFe.
