About the Role
We are looking for a seasoned Agile Transformation Leader to drive enterprise-wide agility and embed AI-enabled ways of working across the organization. In this role, you will be the strategic architect of our transformation journey - partnering with executive leadership to scale agile practices, accelerate AI adoption, and build a culture of continuous innovation and operational excellence.
You will lead and manage the global chapter team consistently across different locations. In this role, you ensure the global chapter has high quality resources who have the necessary technical skills to be mobilized onto Agile teams.
This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with deep agile expertise, proven experience delivering AI and digital transformation programs, and the executive presence to inspire change at every level of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Agile & AI Transformation Strategy
• Define and own the enterprise agile transformation strategy and roadmap, integrating AI maturity progression as a core pillar of organizational change.
• Lead the implementation of AI-enabled delivery models , embedding intelligent automation, data-driven governance, and AI tools into agile workflows to accelerate time-to-market.
• Develop a scalable operating model that combines agile, lean, and AI practices to improve delivery performance, operational efficiency, and value realization.
• Serve as the internal thought leader on SAFe, LeSS, Disciplined Agile, and emerging AI-augmented delivery frameworks.
Chapter Leadership & Capability Building
• Provide the vision and lead Global Chapter capabilities build-out.
• Clearly define specific chapter capabilities, with a harmonized set of roles and skills
• Design and deliver agile training programs, workshops, and communities of practice to upskill talent across the enterprise.
• Work with HR on strategic level and ensure across all the local chapters and subchapters to recruit top talent.
• Lead the team of Subchapter Leads and local leads based on the given geographies.
• Manage complex and difficult escalations, risks and issues related to the chapter specific services delivered by the Global Agile teams.
• Champion innovation initiatives — such as internal idea platforms, hackathons, and design thinking workshops — to foster a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.
• • Accountable for capability maturity, role clarity, and skills progression within the Agile Chapter.
• Ensure chapter members are effectively deployed and delivering measurable value in product teams.
Stakeholder Engagement & Executive Influence
• Partners with C-suite leaders, portfolio owners, and global business unit heads to align transformation priorities with strategic business goals and OKRs.
• Establish agile governance structures, portfolio management practices, and executive reporting cadences to ensure transparency and accountability.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration across IT, Operations, HR, and Finance to embed agile and AI practices into budgeting, resource planning, and performance management.
• Represent the transformation practice in steering committees, executive forums, and external industry events and communities.
• Build relationships that establish Takeda’s brand in respective location and support candidate traction – e.g., local universities, research program investments, hiring events, hackathons, etc.
• • Partner with Portfolio and Finance to align agile governance with funding and prioritization processes.
• Provide transparency on delivery performance and maturity to senior leadership.
Resource Allocation and Staffing
• Coordinate staffing of chapter members in agile teams
• Manage resource allocation constraints for chapter members across the Agile teams and procure flex resources where appropriate.
• Manage resource allocation for Global projects.
• Assess and balance the resourcing needs of the Global Agile teams.
Performance Evaluations
• Oversee collection of formative and evaluative feedback for each chapter member from their network of professional connections
• Oversee delivery of performance evaluations for chapter leaders, factoring in individual contributions and collective team performance
Operational Excellence & Delivery Performance
• Drive measurable outcomes including cost savings, productivity gains, and delivery health improvements through process redesign, automation, and agile governance.
• Define and monitor KPIs, OKRs, and delivery metrics to track transformation health, team maturity, and business impact — communicating outcomes clearly to senior leadership.
• Oversee the global delivery portfolio across Innovation Capability Centers, including AI-enabled and digital initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and compliance requirements.
• Develop and implement automation engagement models and intake frameworks to streamline project delivery and reduce operational costs.
Change Management & Culture
• Lead organizational change management efforts using proven frameworks (Prosci/ADKAR, Kotter) to drive adoption, manage resistance, and sustain transformation momentum.
• Recruit, develop, and retain top agile and transformation talent, maintaining high engagement scores and low attrition in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Build psychological safety and a growth mindset culture where teams are empowered to experiment, learn, and deliver value with confidence.
Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in agile delivery and enterprise transformation, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Managing people and the high complex organization with more than 50 employees
• Demonstrated experience leading AI and digital transformation programs, including AI-enabled delivery, intelligent automation, and AI maturity progression.
• SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC) certification or equivalent.
• Proven track record of delivering measurable business outcomes — cost savings, productivity improvements, and delivery performance gains — in large, complex organizations.
• Strong executive presence and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence C-suite level and across matrixed, global environments.
• Experience managing large, multi-geography teams and cross-functional programs across IT, Operations, and Business functions.
• Background in regulated industries (pharma, financial services, healthcare) is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
• MBA or advanced degree in Business, Organizational Development, Technology, or a related field.
Additional certifications:
• Agile Certified Coach, Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, PMI-ACP, or equivalent.
• Experience building an internal Agile Center of Excellence (CoE) or transformation practice from the ground up.
• Familiarity with design thinking, OKRs, and lean portfolio management in the context of enterprise transformation.
• Active participation in professional communities (e.g., PMI chapters, agile networks, industry conferences).
