About the role:
As a Performance Test Lead in the In-Center Capability within the Plasma-Derived Therapies (PDT) business unit, you will independently drive and own all aspects of performance engineering and non-functional quality assurance. You will ensure that applications meet defined performance benchmarks across scalability, reliability, and stability under varying load conditions. Your role will be critical in identifying performance bottlenecks, optimizing system behavior, and ensuring production readiness.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders including development, architecture, DevOps, and business teams to design and execute comprehensive performance testing strategies. This includes workload modeling, test environment planning, scripting, execution, monitoring, and analysis of performance tests such as load, stress, spike, and endurance testing. You will also be responsible for establishing performance baselines, defining SLAs/SLIs, and driving continuous performance improvements.
By owning the planning, execution, and reporting of performance testing activities, you will ensure that applications meet both business and technical performance requirements. This role plays a key part in enabling PDT to deliver scalable and high-performing solutions, improving system resilience and supporting data-driven decision-making. You will also champion modern performance engineering practices, leveraging cutting-edge tools, automation frameworks, and observability solutions to drive efficiency and innovation.
This position aligns with the Testing and Validation chapter of the ICC and will initially report to the Functional Delivery Lead for strategic direction and day-to-day management. Upon establishment of the QA Lead role within Takeda ICC, reporting and managerial responsibilities will transition accordingly.
How you will contribute:
- Own end-to-end performance testing strategy, including planning, design, execution, and reporting of all non-functional testing activities.
- Define performance benchmarks, SLAs, and acceptance criteria in alignment with business and technical requirements.
- Design realistic workload models and develop performance test scripts to simulate production-like scenarios.
- Execute performance tests (load, stress, spike, endurance) and analyze system behavior under varying conditions.
- Identify performance bottlenecks, conduct root cause analysis, and work with development and infrastructure teams to drive optimizations.
- Establish and maintain performance baselines, trend analysis, and capacity planning recommendations.
- Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines and enable continuous performance validation.
- Leverage monitoring and observability tools to provide deep insights into application and infrastructure performance.
- Drive adoption of best practices, tools, and frameworks for performance engineering across teams.
- Mentor and guide team members on performance testing methodologies and tools.
- Provide clear, data-driven reports and recommendations to stakeholders to support decision-making and release readiness.
- Ensure test environments and data are production-representative and suitable for accurate performance evaluation.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 4–5 years in performance testing/engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache JMeter (including OctaPerf) and LoadRunner.
- Proven experience in designing and executing load, stress, spike, and endurance tests.
- Hands-on expertise in scripting, correlation, parameterization, and test data management.
- Strong understanding of web applications, APIs (REST/SOAP), and distributed systems.
- Ability to analyze performance metrics (CPU, memory, response time, throughput) and identify bottlenecks.
- Experience working with databases and basic query performance analysis.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating performance testing into delivery workflows.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred requirements:
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and integration of performance testing within the delivery pipeline (shift-left / continuous testing).
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, including performance testing in cloud-native environments.
- Working knowledge of mobile testing and tools such as Appium.
- Experience in test automation using tools such as Tricentis Tosca or similar frameworks.
- Exposure to performance monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Grafana).
- Experience in capacity planning, workload modeling, and performance tuning is an added advantage.
- Understanding of domain-specific systems (e.g., healthcare, finance, or other regulated environments).
BENEFITS:
It is our priority to provide competitive compensation and a benefit package that bridges your personal life with your professional career. Amongst our benefits are:
- Competitive Salary + Performance Annual Bonus
