Job Description

OBJECTIVES / PURPOSE

We are seeking a Principal Analyst, Competitive Intelligence (CI) to serve as the CI subject-matter expert within Takeda's Global Capability Center (GCC) in India, supporting the Gastroenterology & Inflammation Business Unit (GIBU). This senior individual-contributor role sits in the GCC and operates as an extension of the US GI Insights & Competitive Intelligence team — driving CI activities for key pipeline and marketed assets in the GIBU portfolio, uncovering signals on competitor activity and market dynamics, and telling clear, compelling stories with data that enable informed decision-making across the organization. The Principal Analyst sets the CI and insight standard for the GCC team and acts as a technical authority and mentor for the broader analyst community.

  • Own the GCC's design and delivery of GIBU's most complex, high-visibility CI deliverables, and serve as the recognized subject-matter expert (SME) setting the CI and storytelling standard across assets and therapeutic areas.
  • Partner across time zones with the US GI Insights & CI team, therapeutic-area leads, and cross-functional partners to translate business questions into decision-ready competitive insights with clear implications.
  • Act as a strategic thought partner and mentor, elevating the CI, analytical, and storytelling capabilities of Analysts and Senior Analysts across the GCC team.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Competitive Intelligence & Strategic Analysis

  • Develop and execute CI plans that support pipeline and marketed GIBU assets in the US, anticipating business needs and proactively surfacing insights that drive better decisions.
  • Deliver timely, actionable insights and alerts on competitor activities, market dynamics, and emerging trends, identifying meaningful signals within large, complex information sources.
  • Integrate syndicated data, primary market research (PMR), and secondary data with market research and analytics partners to provide a comprehensive view of the competitive landscape.
  • Navigate ambiguity and frame the right questions, applying strong quantitative and qualitative analytical judgment to explore complex competitive questions and refine strategy.

Conference Coverage

  • Lead and coordinate CI activities at major scientific and industry conferences — including pre-conference planning, intelligence gathering, and post-conference synthesis and reporting — partnering with on-site colleagues across time zones.

Insight Generation & Storytelling

  • Skilled at data storytelling — synthesize complex data into clear, compelling narratives that connect insights to business strategy and inform strategic decisions.
  • Deliver impactful presentations and recurring updates tailored to different audiences, from senior leadership to cross-functional teams.
  • Support Investor Relations call preparation and other external communications with accurate, relevant, and well-framed competitive information.

Vendor Coordination, Enablement & Data Foundation

  • Coordinate external CI vendors and ensure high-quality deliverables, adherence to timelines, and compliance with ethical and legal CI standards.
  • Build and maintain enterprise-grade CI dashboards and analytical tools (e.g., Tableau) that make competitive information intuitive and actionable, defining visualization and reporting best practices for the GCC team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required in a scientific, commercial, or quantitative field (e.g., Life Sciences, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or a related discipline); advanced degree strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 5–6 years of progressive quantitative analytical experience in competitive intelligence, insights, or related roles — ideally within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry — with a significant portion focused on surfacing strategic competitive insights from complex data sources.
  • Demonstrated data storytelling and communication skills with a proven ability to influence decisions through clear, actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with CI data ecosystems — syndicated data, primary market research (PMR), secondary data, and conference/congress intelligence.
  • Matrix stakeholder engagement experience across global, cross-functional teams; familiarity with gastroenterology, dermatology, and/or rheumatology therapeutic areas is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a GCC, captive, or offshore delivery model supporting global or US-based stakeholders, with willingness to maintain overlap hours with US time zones, is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Analytical & Strategic Rigor — Exceptional ability to identify meaningful signals that inform strategic action; strong quantitative and qualitative skills, comfortable navigating ambiguity and framing the right questions.
  • Critical Thinking & Proactive Insight — Anticipates business needs and proactively surfaces competitive insights that drive better decisions; advances from basic monitoring to self-directed analysis.
  • Data Storytelling & Visualization — Skilled at data storytelling — connects insights to business strategy and presents them clearly and persuasively; builds intuitive, decision-ready CI products.
  • Collaboration & Communication — Excellent communicator who tailors insights to different audiences; influential thought partner who aligns stakeholders across functions and therapeutic areas.
