OBJECTIVES / PURPOSE

We are seeking a high-caliber Principal Analyst to join Takeda's GCC Commercial Analytics & Insights (CA&I) organization in India. This individual contributor role is designed for a seasoned US pharma access analytics professional who combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking, stakeholder advisory capability, and a demonstrated ability to solve complex patient access and market access problems. The Principal Analyst serves as the GCC team's analytics anchor for assigned access analytics workstreams.

  • Serve as an analytical partner to Market Access, Patient Services, Commercial Analytics, and brand teams, delivering actionable insights through rigorous payer, access, reimbursement, and account-level analytics.
  • Own and independently execute complex access analytics workstreams — including payer/formulary analysis, access pull-through, specialty pharmacy analytics, patient support program measurement, and reimbursement trend analysis — with minimal supervision and strong bias for quality and commercial relevance.
  • Bring a consultative mindset to cross-functional partnerships: proactively framing access business questions, evaluating analytical approaches, recommending methodologies, and communicating findings in a clear and persuasive manner to senior access and commercial stakeholders.
  • Provide informal analytical leadership to Senior Analyst and Analyst colleagues, contributing to team knowledge-sharing, methodology standards, and quality review.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Access Analytics and Market Access Insights

  • Conduct claims, specialty pharmacy, managed care, and formulary analyses to identify access barriers, reimbursement dynamics, patient affordability trends, and access pull-through opportunities across assigned brands.
  • Integrate and analyze diverse US access data sources — including claims data, specialty pharmacy data, managed care data, formulary data, HUB/patient support program data, prescription data, and account-level commercial datasets — to generate comprehensive access insights.
  • Perform complex analyses in the areas of provider/account segmentation, payer and formulary dynamics, reimbursement trends, access opportunity identification, and account buying patterns across multiple brands and timelines simultaneously.
  • Apply quantitative and coding skills to assess access drivers, patient initiation and continuation dynamics, cross-channel access performance, and commercial impact using techniques such as regression, correlation, segmentation, and scenario analysis.

Access Performance Measurement and Reporting

  • Establish, track, and report on access KPIs such as coverage, approval and rejection dynamics, time to fill, abandonment, fulfillment, adherence, pull-through, patient support program performance, and payer/account-level opportunity metrics.
  • Build and maintain access dashboards and standardized analytical reporting tools in Tableau or Power BI; ensure outputs are accurate, timely, and structured to meet Market Access and brand stakeholder requirements.
  • Support access strategy and reimbursement optimization efforts, including formulary monitoring, specialty pharmacy performance assessment, and ad hoc diagnosis of access performance against commercial objectives.
  • Review existing access reports and operations on a regular basis; identify opportunities to rationalize, automate, or enhance deliverables in line with evolving access priorities and data availability.

Stakeholder Engagement and Consultative Support

  • Act in a consultant role in cross-functional meetings, bringing technical and functional analytical inputs that inform access strategy, patient services planning, account management, and commercial decision-making.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to senior management on matters concerning payer and formulary dynamics, access performance, reimbursement trends, patient support program performance, and the changing business environment.
  • Partner with Market Access, Patient Services, Commercial Analytics, and brand stakeholders to translate business questions into well-scoped analytical workplans; proactively surface analytical opportunities and ensure outputs are tightly aligned to access priorities.
  • Provide informal guidance and quality review to Senior Analyst and Analysts on assigned workstreams, sharing analytical best practices and supporting consistent quality output across the team.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in an analytical field such as Statistics, Operations Research, Management Science, Economics, Data Science, Public Health, or Mathematics required.
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative, healthcare, or analytical field is preferred; MBA with a quantitative focus is also acceptable.

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of progressive quantitative analytical experience in the US pharmaceutical industry; direct, hands-on experience with US access analytics, market access analytics, or commercial analytics is required.
  • Complete understanding and applied expertise in the use and manipulation of US access and commercial data sources, including claims, specialty pharmacy, managed care, formulary, HUB/patient support program, prescription, and account-level datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage and deliver complex access analytics projects across multiple brands and timelines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in coding techniques using SAS, R, or Python for data manipulation, analysis, and workflow automation; advanced Excel skills required.
  • Strong experience with Tableau or Power BI for access dashboards, data visualization, and performance reporting.
  • Knowledge of reimbursement, patient affordability, specialty pharmacy, payer dynamics, and patient support program measurement in a pharma commercial context is preferred.
  • Consulting experience — internal or external — within the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • US Access Data Expertise — Deep, applied knowledge of access and reimbursement datasets; able to design data approaches, apply business rules, and integrate multi-source datasets into comprehensive access analyses.
  • Quantitative Analytical Skills — Proficient in applying analytical techniques such as segmentation, regression, correlation, scenario analysis, and opportunity sizing to real-world access business questions.
  • Multi-Brand Project Management — Manages multiple complex access analytics projects across brands and timelines simultaneously with strong prioritization, delivery discipline, and stakeholder communication.
  • Data Storytelling — Synthesizes complex access, payer, and patient support findings into clear, persuasive, and decision-oriented narratives with explicit commercial implications; presents confidently to senior audiences.
  • Consultative Partnership — Operates as a trusted analytical advisor to Market Access, Patient Services, brand, and commercial analytics teams; proactively frames questions and influences access decisions.
  • Technical Proficiency — Advanced skills in SAS, R, or Python; Tableau or Power BI; SQL for data extraction and transformation; Databricks familiarity is a plus.
  • Informal Leadership — Provides analytical guidance, methodology input, and quality review to junior team members; contributes actively to team standards and knowledge-sharing.
