OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE

This Principal Analyst / Specialist (SAP ABAP) is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of SAP ERP solutions within the organization. This role involves collaborating with functional teams, business stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure seamless integration, customization, and enhancement of SAP ERP systems. The Development Lead will oversee a team of developers, integration specialists and security specialists and will also be responsible for ensuring the quality, scalability, and performance of SAP developments.This role requires a balance of technical expertise, leadership, and management skills to drive the successful implementation and customization of SAP ERP solutions.

  • Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead a team of SAP developers, providing technical guidance and mentorship.

  • Ensurealignmentbetween the development team and the organization’s SAP project goals.

  • Manage projects and demands timelines, deliverables, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

  • Overseethe projects and demands solutions for the projects and demands delivered by internal team or externalvendors

  • Technical Development:

  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of custom enhancements, interfaces, and reports in SAP ERP systems.

  • Collaborate with functionalconsultants to understand business requirements and translatetheminto technical specifications.

  • Ensuredevelopment follows TakedaSAP best practices, coding standards, and isaligned with business processes.

  • System Design & Integration:

  • Architect and design custom solutionsthatextend the functionality of SAP ERP.

  • Ensureseamlessintegrationbetween SAP ERP and otherenterpriseapplications.

  • Monitor and optimize performance, ensuring system stability and scalability.

  • SAP Modules Expertise:

  • Have a solidoverview of severalSAP modules (e.g., FI/CO, MM, SD, SCM, Commercial, Manufacturing).

  • Manage and support the development of ABAP programs, SAP Fiori/UI5 applications, SAP S/4HANA migrations, and other custom developments.

  • Quality Assurance & Testing:

  • Collaborate with the QA team to resolveissues and optimizedevelopmentprocesses.

  • Documentation & Compliance:

  • Create and maintain technical documentation for custom developments and integrations.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, security standards, and regulatoryrequirements.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Ability to support with the team multiple projects and demands, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Oversee the design, development, and implementation of custom enhancements, interfaces, and reports in SAP ERP systems 

Team Development

  • Work closely with the Global chapter lead and otherERP Global Subchapter Leads and Streamleadswithin the chapter to provide the vision and lead the team capabilities build-out.

  • Cooperate closely with otherGlobal Subchapter Leads within the chapter to ensureconsistency in the procedureschapter wide.

  • Lead own teamas an experiencedpractitioner and be a role model to the members.

  • Identifyteammembers to serve as leaders who help provide training and oversight for their people management responsibilities.

  • Manage escalations, risks and issuesrelated to the services delivered.

Talent Development

  • Works with HR to defineroles, recruit top talent, conduct candidate interviews, and onboard new chaptermembers

  • Track the progress of eachindividualtowardcompletion of the training curriculum

  • Set targets for development and growth, and completesfinalassessment of teammembers in professionaldevelopment, in alignment with the technical capability lead.

  • Lead talent development and retentioninitiatives, including provisioning of training, sharing of best practices, and initiatives to promote a culture of continuousimprovement.

Performance Evaluations

  • Overseecollection of formative and evaluative feedback for eachteammember from their network of professional connections

  • Oversee delivery of performance evaluations for teammembers, factoring in individualcontributions and collective team performance

  • Stay updated on SAP technologies, tools, and best practices.

  • Proactivelyidentifyareas of improvement, propose solutions, and implementthem to enhance system efficiency.

  • Operating in a IT/data technologycomplexenvironment, heavilyregulatedenvironment

  • Demonstrated capability to successfully collaborate in amatrixorganization and manage a complex cross functional global environment .

  • Working within international / global remit and within and acrossothercultures

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Essential

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in SAP development with atleast4+ yearsin a leadership role, Leadingatleast 7+ developers and other technical personnel

  • PreferredCertifications:

  • SAP Certified Development Professional or SAP Certified Technology Specialistcertifications.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SAP ABAP, SAP Fiori, and UI5 development.

  • Experience with BTP

  • Strong experience with BAPI, IDOCs, and ALE.

  • Expertise in integration with third-party systems (via web services, APIs, etc.).

  • Experience with SAP Workflow, SAP HANA, and SAP Cloud Platform is a plus.

Desired

  • Strong experience with SAP S/4HANA implementations

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Flexibility in working hours due to global nature (different time-zones) and demands of the role and the organization

  • Flexibility to travel (~20 - 30%).

  • This is a hybrid work model with expected 10 days in the office presence or as described in the actual company policy
