The Opportunity
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will support data operations and ETL workflows, ensuring robust data pipelines and reliable analytics environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain data quality, troubleshoot issues, and enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain Databricks as both an ETL platform and analytical database environment.
- Review Spark job logs, monitor clusters, troubleshoot job failures, and validate Delta Lake tables.
- Manage Databricks Jobs, Workflows, and notebooks for production and development environments.
- Perform ETL operations using Informatica BDM and/or IICS, including workflow monitoring, troubleshooting failures, and managing dependencies.
- Utilize Apache Airflow & Tidal for scheduling and orchestration, including DAG monitoring, reruns, and pipeline dependency checks.
- Conduct data validation and debugging using SQL and Python.
- Work with cloud storage and compute platforms (e.g., AWS S3 or similar data lake environments).
- Validate dashboards and troubleshoot refresh issues in Tableau, supporting functional users.
- Document incidents, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and communicate impact and resolution to business stakeholders.
- Ensure SLA-driven operations and maintain high standards of data reliability.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience: 7+ years in Data Operations, ETL Operations, Production Support, or DataOps roles.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks, including Spark job monitoring and Delta Lake validation.
- Strong experience in Informatica BDM and/or IICS for ETL operations.
- Proficiency in Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.
- Solid knowledge of SQL and Python for data validation and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with AWS S3 or similar cloud data lake environments.
- Basic experience with Tableau for dashboard validation and issue resolution.
- Understanding of pharma commercial data domains (Sales, CRM, IQVIA deliverables, Patient Services, or MDM) is a plus.
- Strong incident management skills, including RCA documentation and business communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with pharma commercial data and regulatory compliance environments.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and metadata management.
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.
- Knowledge of data security best practices in cloud environments.
