Role Summary

Vault Configuration Lead with strong expertise in providing strategic oversight and hands-on configuration leadership for enterprise Vault implementations supporting Pharmaceutical R&D. Responsible for defining configuration standards, governing solution design, and ensuring cross-functional requirements are delivered through scalable, compliant platform capabilities.

Acts as the primary bridge between business leadership and technical teams, driving platform evolution while maintaining compliance with global GxP standards, validation expectations, and long-term platform stability.

Key Responsibilities

Configuration Strategy & Governance

• Define and enforce platform-wide configuration standards, naming conventions, and best practices to ensure consistency across Vault modules.
• Establish reusable configuration patterns and governance frameworks to support scalable R&D solutions.
• Provide architectural oversight and ensure alignment with enterprise technology and compliance strategies.

Solution Design & Complex Configuration

• Lead the design of complex, cross-functional Vault solutions including advanced workflows, lifecycle frameworks, and multi-vault integrations.
• Translate business, clinical, and regulatory requirements into scalable configuration blueprints.
• Drive harmonization of document taxonomy, metadata, and security models across programs and studies.

Configuration Lifecycle & Quality Oversight

• Oversee the end-to-end configuration lifecycle, providing guidance to configurators and conducting peer reviews to ensure quality and compliance.
• Establish documentation, traceability, and review practices to support validated system delivery.
• Act as the escalation point for complex configuration challenges and provide root cause analysis.

Release & Environment Management

• Manage the configuration release roadmap by evaluating new platform capabilities, conducting risk assessments, and defining implementation timelines.
• Govern environment management including sandbox strategy, deployment pipelines, configuration migration, and release validation.
• Support controlled change management aligned with regulated R&D processes.

Integration & Cross-System Alignment

• Lead configuration considerations for integrations with CTMS, eTMF, LIMS, Safety, Regulatory, and enterprise platforms.
• Ensure configuration decisions support interoperability, data integrity, and seamless cross-system workflows.

Compliance, Validation & Inspection Readiness

• Partner with QA and Regulatory teams to ensure all configurations meet Computer System Validation (CSV) requirements and regulatory expectations.
• Maintain inspection readiness through proper documentation, audit trail management, and traceability practices.
• Ensure adherence to GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11, and data integrity principles.

Stakeholder Leadership & Collaboration

• Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, configuration teams, and platform leadership.
• Mentor administrators and configurators on best practices and platform capabilities.
• Support Agile or hybrid delivery models with active participation in planning, reviews, and release governance.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Life Sciences, IT, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Experience

• 7+ years of experience with Vault platform configuration and delivery in Life Sciences.
• Proven experience in team leadership, solution ownership, or configuration architecture roles.
• Strong background working in regulated Pharmaceutical R&D environments.

Must-Have Skills

• Vault Administration Certification
• Deep expertise in Vault configuration (objects, lifecycles, workflows, security, metadata)
• Strong knowledge of GxP, Computer System Validation (CSV), and data integrity regulations
• Experience defining standards, governance, and scalable configuration models

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Vault SDK, APIs, or integration frameworks
• Familiarity with cross-vault connectors and enterprise integration patterns
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile certification
• Expertise in audit trail monitoring, traceability, and inspection readiness
• Experience with sandbox strategy, deployment automation, and release validation

• Strategic mindset with strong attention to compliance and quality.
