The Opportunity

We are looking for a ServiceNow Principal Developer with strong expertise in ServiceNow development, AI and machine learning. The position involves developing and overseeing ServiceNow software development practices, incorporating Artificial Intelligence in Development to improve the platform, and supporting the understanding and communication of how to achieve digital transformation objectives to elevate user experience and drive operational efficiency using the ServiceNow platform’s features. The role also contributes to product integrations and design, affecting customer value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Development
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective ServiceNow solutions.
    • Develop and maintain business rules, client scripts, UI policies, UI actions, flow designer workflows, and integrations.
    • Build and customize Service Portals, Employee Center, catalog items, and record producers.
    • Drive Innovation and Spike initiatives to showback Proof of Concept
    • Ensure all requirements and processes comply with Takeda’s GxP, SOX, and other regulatory standards. 
  • Solution Implementation
    • Work with Architects, Principal Test Lead, and Product Managers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
    • Ensure alignment with ServiceNow Development best practices and governance standards.
    • Participate in solution design sessions, provide technical guidance, and recommend optimal configurations.
    • Bring in Creator Plus to introduce Agentic AI in ServiceNow Development practice.
    • Design and develop a workflow framework applicable to many workflows.
  • Integration & Automation
    • Implement integrations between ServiceNow and external systems using REST/SOAP APIs, MID Server, and Integration Hub.
    • Automate processes to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Platform Maintenance
    • Support platform upgrades, patching, and performance optimization.
    • unit testing, defect resolution, and ensure quality delivery.
    • Ensure proper documentation are maintained for developed solutions.
    • Rollout
  • Mentorship & Leadership
    • Lead a team of internal and external ServiceNow developers, promoting collaboration and development best practices. 
    • Establish and maintain development standards, coding practices, and quality assurance processes. 
    • Provide guidance on ServiceNow Development best practices and standards to ServiceNow Development team members and Citizen Developers
    • Develop DevOps operating model in collaboration with Platform Operation Lead
    • Expand citizen development program by creating resources that introduce ServiceNow, train developers in best practices, and offer continuous support.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest ServiceNow trends, tools, and best practices.
    • Provides standard methodologies for guiding adoption and influencing the stakeholder to make investments in the solution
    • Ensure that both self and team members' certifications remain current and stay up to date on all Delta releases.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise:
    • 12+ years of overall IT experience
    • 8+ years of ServiceNow development experience
    • Experience in HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX
    • Experience of one popular web framework - React, AngularJS
    • Experience with Flow Designer, Integration Hub, and scripting in ServiceNow.
    • Experience MySQL / SQL Server & NoSQL / Relationship DB
    • Passion for JavaScript and the Web as a platform, reusability, and componentization
    • Experience in leveraging or critically thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
    • NowAssist Creator PLUS Implementation experience is a highly desirable
    • Experience with data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance/scale considerations
    • Integration experience (SOAP, REST, and JSON as well as JDBC and file imports)
    • Strong understanding of CMDB design, CSDM, and ITIL processes.
    • SAFE Agile methodology of software development - logging, unit testing, code reviews etc.
    • Thorough knowledge of networking concepts such as IP Addressing, Firewalls, ports
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) – Required
    • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) – Required
    • ServiceNow ITSM Implementation Specialist – Preferred
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Analytical mindset and problem-solving ability.
    • Ability to work independently and in an Agile environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to other ServiceNow modules like HRSD, ITOM, GRC, CSM.
  • Experience with ServiceNow AI/ML capabilities like NowAssist and Predictive Intelligence (Machine Learning, Deep Learning skills)
  • Experience in integrating ServiceNow with monitoring tools and third-party applications.
