The Opportunity

As aSoftwareEngineeryou will execute defined tasks while taking end-to-end technical ownership of feature design, implementation, and code quality. You will provide hands-onexpertiseto enhance existing applications,eliminatetechnical debt, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex R&D requirements into production-grade software. The position balances core web development with cloud-first infrastructure management,leveragingAI-assisted development tools to maximize your engineering velocity and ensuring seamless data integration with our enterprise scientific platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, andmaintainscalable cloud-native applications across both front-end and back-end components

• Leverage best practices, Object Oriented JavaScript programming and TypeScript frameworks.

• Leverage GitHub for CI/CD for all application development.

• Participate in code reviews, offering and incorporating constructive feedback while growing toward senior-level ownership

• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, DataSME's, and engineering peers to refine requirements and deliver high-value features

• Implement andmaintainautomated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, to ensure software quality

• Monitor and troubleshoot production issues related to performance, reliability, and availability

• Continuously improve development processes, tooling, and system architecture

• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools (such as GitHub Copilot) for code generation, refactoring, and test automation

• Build andmaintaininterfaces that integrate with enterprise R&D data platforms for data ingestion and retrieval

• Create detailed technical documentation, including Low-Level Design (LLD) documents, class diagrams,componentarchitectures, and Entity-Relationship (ER) diagrams

• Integrate full-stack applications with biomedical ontologies and semantic metadata standards to improve data harmonization across R&D applications

• Contribute to the organization’s cloud-first strategy, driving innovation and measurable business outcomes

• Contribute to Takeda’s mission by leading the development and adoption of solutions that deliver business outcomes and drive innovation.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, systemsanalysisor a related study.

• 4+ years relevantsoftwaredevelopment experiencewith modern programming languages like Python,Javaor Scala.

• Stronghands-on experienceasSoftwareEngineerwithfollowing technologiesNode.js/Express,React/Angular/Vue.js,SASS, CSS, HTML, writing cross-browser compatible code.

• Experience building andmaintainingAWS infrastructure, including EC2, RDS, load balancers, and S3 using infrastructure as code with Terraform.

• Solidexperience working with relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases.

• Demonstratedproficiencyin system software engineering, including crafting Low-Level Designs (LLD), constructing Entity-Relationship (ER) diagrams, and database optimization.

• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs.

• Hands-on knowledge building data engineering pipelines using Apache Spark or Databricks for working with clinical and scientific datasets.

• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts.

• Self-starter with a passion for taking ownership of your work and delivering outcomes.

• Solidcommunication skills, a team player with a 'winning as a team' attitude.

• Ability to continuouslyenhancesownskills.

• Ability to write and speak in the English language.

• Practice efficient time management andcoordinatestasks, working in an international environment.
