Job Description

About the role:

As part of the Global Oncology Products & Pipeline Strategy (GOPPS) global marketing team, the Global Marketing Lead, Associate Director reports to the Head of GI Oncology and works in the gastric cancer and/or pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) spaces. The Associate Director is responsible for leading commercial opportunity assessments for the asset and translating clinical, scientific and market data into strategic and actionable recommendations for senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

The role partners with cross-functional stakeholders across GOPPS, R&D Medical Affairs, Pricing Value & Access and Takeda Oncology Business Unit (OBU) countries on the commercial strategy for the asset. This is an individual contributor role and the ideal candidate combines sound strategic business judgment with strong analytical skills, and thrives in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment.

This role is based in Cambridge, MA with an onsite requirement of 8 days/month.

How you will contribute (but not limited to):

  • Support development and execution of the asset’s overarching GI oncology strategy, helping position Takeda as a leader and innovator in this space

  • Partner with key cross-functional partners (e.g. R&D, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Market Research, Forecasting, Analytics, Competitive Intelligence, Patient Advocacy, New Product Planning, OBU countries) to develop opportunity assessments based on robust insights to inform Target Product Profile (TPP), R&D prioritization, positioning and business case

  • Lead lifecycle planning (future indications)  to optimize long-term brand value (e.g., indication expansion, line extensions, new formulations/combos as applicable)

  • Prepare materials for senior leadership, including portfolio reviews and program updates, in a clear, concise and decision-ready format

  • Engage with Regions / Local Operating Companies (LOCs) to represent the brand and gain input and alignment on key strategies and tactics, including lifecycle priorities and New Product Planning (NPP) assumptions

  • Support Director of Marketing GI Oncology on commercial launch and go-to-market activities

  • Manage relationships and engagements with key external expert (KOL) relationships to inform  strategy, and opportunity assessment

  • Collaborate with cross-functional business partners, including Market Research, Competitive Intelligence, Analytics and Forecasting  to inform brand strategy, tactics, forecast assumptions (including LCM), and contribute to long-range financial planning

  • Establish, implement and maintain "best practices" in brand marketing and supportive functions (e.g. forecasting, competitive intelligence, analytics and market research)

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree with 6-8 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry or life sciences management consulting

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in growth opportunity identification (e.g. indication expansion, portfolio strategy) and commercial strategy development

  • Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate the commercial and competitive implications of complex technical, clinical, and regulatory data, as well as market research, real-world evidence (RWE), and regional insights.to shape asset strategy with R&D and other cross-functional teams

  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to navigate complexity, synthesize insights and translate them into clear, actionable strategies

  • Effectively manage multiple demands and priorities with attention to detail, lead matrix teams, build alignment, and drive timely, informed decision-making

  • Demonstrated communication and relationship-building skills with ability to drive alignment across functions and regions/countries

  • Therapeutic area experience in oncology

  • Proficient in market research, competitive intelligence and forecasting

  • Ability to operate independently to drive projects from conception to execution and pull through, gaining alignment from functions and countries

  • Established leadership traits with an ability to collaborate effectively, and positively influence decisions

  • Experienced in managing external vendors, agencies and consultants

  • Ability to travel depending on business needs and congress attendance

  • Ability to work across multiple time zones with cross-functional team located across US, EU and Asia

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree e.g. MS, MBA, PharmD, PhD

  • Combination of global marketing, in-line marketing and life sciences strategy consulting experience

  • Product launch experience in Global marketing and/or in-line (preferably US) marketing

  • Gastric and/or PDAC cancer experience

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$154,400.00 - $242,550.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
