About the role:
Join Takeda as the Director, Oncology New Product Planning, Early Stage Assets, reporting into the Head, Oncology New Product Planning. In this role, you will serve as NPP lead for early stage assets, and provide an early and objective view of the unmet needs, target profile, market potential, competitive landscape and commercial risks associated with pipeline assets in early development phases. Coordinate pre-commercialization activities for these pipeline assets prior to handing them off to commercial teams. How you will contribute:
Represent the Oncology Business Unit (OBU) as early stage asset lead on early pipeline Global Program Teams (GPTs) and contribute the global commercial perspective to clinical development decisions within the GPT (including Clinical, GMA, Project Management, and Regulatory) on key factors such as indications, endpoints, populations and trial comparator to ensure through analysis and understanding of the necessary clinical and regulatory threshold to ensure successful commercialization ,market differentiation, and alignment with DASs.
Co-lead GPT in identifying, developing and championing asset maximization strategies, and facilitate GPT decision-making through the communication of clear and unified global commercial strategy to optimize overall market value of each asset
Develop early brand plans/early product opportunity profiles for early stage assets assets with global cross-functional input (Patient value and Access, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Competitive Intelligence), including a global commercial assessment of the market and asset opportunity that is used to facilitate clinical development planning, brand strategy development, patient insights, value proposition, financial valuation, and tactical planning/budgeting
Conduct market analyses to shape optimized target product profiles, product positioning, and target product claims
Lead all regional pipeline communication and activities for early stage assets
Advise on commercial assessments of potential BD and M&A opportunities, as needed, and as as liaison with iDAS business leads
Provide forecasts for early stage assets and the potential for the franchise
Stay abreast of oncology treatment landscape and key competitors in order to adapt early commercial strategies accordingly to ensure success of these early stage assets
This position is responsible for leading pipeline commercial strategy for early commercial assets and liaising with the iDAS to ensure alignment of asset strategy and the iDAS strategies. . As part of this charge, the Director, NPP- Early Stage Assets works globally and cross-functionally (Regional Marketing, Market Research, Business Intelligence, BD, Alliance Management, Patient Value and Access, Medical Affairs etc.), to develop strategies that will provide the greatest returns to Takeda. The Director, NPP – Early Stage Assets delivers strategies, forecasts and commercial plans, aligned to the overall disease area strategy, for endorsement by Head of NPP, Oncology Leadership Team, Takeda Oncology Management Meeting (TOMM), Oncology Development Steering Team (ODeST) and Portfolio Review Committee (PRC).
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., business, chemistry, biology); Advanced Degree (MBA, PhD, PharmD) preferred
10+ years pharmaceutical industry experience, oncology experience required
At least 7 years in commercial roles (brand marketing, sales, market research/analytics, new product planning, managed markets); global experience preferred
Significant commercial experience required in new product planning, early stage assets
Experience defining disease area strategies or corporate strategy experience required
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical R&D process required; prefer prior experience working with development teams
Significant experience leading cross-functional teams, including senior leaders, to accomplish shared goals
Demonstrated exceptional strategic thinking ability
Demonstrated ability to understand and translate clinical/scientific information
This position requires ~ 10% travel, including international trips.
SKILLS:
Pharmaceutical Industry Acumen – Ability to develop and implement business solutions based on trends, opportunities, needs and market direction within the pharmaceutical industry and health care environment.

Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
$174,500.00 - $274,230.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives.
