Job Description

Objective / Purpose:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Partnerships and Outsourcing Enablement (SPO), the Director is a hands-on leadership role responsible for owning major initiatives that will enhance SPO performance and delivery for the Global Development (GDO) and R&D organizations. This role directs the development and enhancement of key infrastructure to ensure financial predictability and wellness for clinical trials along with other tools and processes to enhance overall SPO delivery globally.  This role partners with SPO LT and key cross functional stakeholders to ensure consistent application of costing best practices and optimize ways of working.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead significant Cost Modeling and Cost Engineering projects including development, maintenance and enhancement of cost models, including workbooks and ballpark estimation tools;  Develop new cost models; Perform cost driver analyses and tracking original vs final costs to identify variances and opportunities for optimization; Deliver training on the models; Support governance as required
  • Partner with Business Operations to analyze SPO data and metrics requirements to ensure robust supplier and team performance and to support decision making; Utilize data analytics to identify trends, and track improvements and opportunities for efficiency; Maintain and enhance the SPO balanced scorecard
  • Partner with Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) to lead improvements and support framework for optimizing supplier relationship management and governance
  • Lead activities to enable and enhance department workflow management and prioritization of activities
  • Support category and pricing strategies in collaboration with Procurement and cross functional leaders
  • Collaborate with the GDO Process Excellence teams and SMEs to co-create and improve scalable, best-in-class processes
  • Reduce reliance on manual operational support by driving and embedding automation, templates and self-service tools which support and improve the operation of the other teams in SPO
  • Identify recurring issues and lead initiatives to fix root causes at the process level
  • Convert process knowledge and tools into accessible training materials and best-practice libraries
  • Lead and support process improvement sprints to address bottlenecks, fix broken processes, and deliver high-priority enablement outcomes
  • Apply agile principles; define priorities, gather requirements, execute with focus, and conduct post sprint cycle evaluations
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable internal policies and procedures, regulations; support inspection readiness of all regulated activities.

Education & Competencies (Technical and Behavioral):

  • BS/BA required; advanced technical degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in process improvement, business operations, procurement enablement, or project management in a clinical development environment
  • Strong background in cost modeling, data analytics, and process reengineering
  • Proven ability to manage change and build scalable, efficient process and systems
  • Ability to translate complex problems into clear, actionable solutions
  • Proven experience in training development, delivery and knowledge enablement
  • Highly skilled in leveraging data insights for decision-making and process optimization
  • Strong financial management, negotiation and conflict resolution and team building skills. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of GCP, ICH guidelines, and clinical trial regulations

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$174,500.00 - $274,230.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
