Job Description

Primary Duties:

  • Works with the GMUH-Dermatology to conceive the multi-year vision for the product and disease area, and provide scientific support aligned with the GPT and global brand strategy incorporating cross-functional strategies (e.g. Commercial, MPD, Regulatory, MCE, and Region/LOCs as appropriate).

  • Work with the GMUH-Dermatology on the development and execution of the medical plan, accounting.

  • Serve as clinical strategy lead and medical monitor for phase 3B/4 company sponsored studies in dermatology

  • Serve as Global Medical expert and steward and custodian of scientific knowledge in collaboration with scientific communication partners.

  • As needed, provide medical review to global promotional and non-promotional materials.

  • Act as a company representative interacting with external HCPs and investigators, patient advocacy groups and/or regulatory authorities.

  • Establish appropriate strategic partnerships with centers of excellence and KOLs in areas of scientific interest.

Key Responsibilities:

Global Medical Strategy for defined products aligned with asset strategy

  • Work with the GMUH-Dermatology on defining and implementing the GMA strategy, life cycle management, including e.g. strategy for publications, congresses, customer interaction, and the focused scientific communication for the disease area, aligned with overall product strategy and LOCs and region/LOCs and MCE.

  • As delegated by the GMUH-Dermatology, support relevant study functional teams (e.g. publications, medical communications, medical training) and relevant R&D teams in developing plans.

  • As delegated by the GMUH-Dermatology, collaborate with commercial partners to ensure aligned and medically appropriate commercial strategy, planning and execution.

  • Support design and execution of clinical studies (phase IV, disease registries, epidemiological studies, outcomes surveys, etc.) in close collaboration with TAU, Global Medical Evidence, GEO, and GPT as required.

  • Serve as Global Medical representative on standing and project-based cross-functional teams, as required.

  • Support LOCs on relevant local or regional projects.

Interaction with internal and external stakeholders in alignment with study needs and medical strategy:

  • Act as a company representative with HCPs, investigators, policy makers, patient research groups, and/or regulatory authorities.

  • Support and prioritize a global KOL engagement strategy for the respective diseases.

  • Per medical strategy, establish and/or enhance partnerships with key academic institutions and develop relationships with key thought leaders.

  • Per medical strategy, establish appropriate partnerships with KOLs in areas of scientific interest.

  • Represent Medical Affairs at internal and external meetings.

  • Support the planning, designing, and managing of global medical advisory boards.

  • Present data on molecule / therapeutic area.

Maintenance of knowledge base:

  • Serve as a key medical resource on the disease area and on specific programmes.

  • Maintain a high level of expertise on the disease area.

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of global pharmaceutical regulations, guidelines, codes of practices and Takeda policies related to all medical activities.

  • As directed by the GMUH-Dermatology, develop, conduct, or participate in therapeutic training programs for Takeda internal departments.

  • Oversee medical review and approval of promotional and meeting materials.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A medical degree (MD, DO, MBBS) is required.

  • At least 5 years of experience in biopharmaceutical medicine, preferably within a matrix or franchise structure.

  • At least 5 years of experience as a study medical monitor, sub-investigator and/or principal investigator in dermatology is required; specific experience in psoriasis studies and Phase 3b/4 studies preferred.

  • Experience in medical affairs is required.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams at the brand or disease area levels in country, regional or global organizations is preferred.

  • Experience in the disease area of interest through clinical experience, biopharmaceutical experience or education is preferred.


Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated business acumen and operational skills.

  • Demonstrated skills in medical monitoring of global multicenter clinical trials in dermatology, including but not limited problem solving with SMO/CRO, managing site issues and investigators

  • Ability to think strategically and tactically from a medical perspective about how to support the launch and growth of a brand.

  • Ability to work in a Global environment, across diverse cultures.

  • Ability to collaborate cross functionally.

  • Ability to represent company’s interest in scientific forums as needed.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage teams and drive initiatives without direct line management authority.

  • Results orientation and accountability.

  • Good analytical skills as applied to medical, scientific and technical information.

  • Unquestioned ethics are a must.

Complexity and Problem Solving:

  • Management of discrete medical projects and activities.

  • Representation of GMA and contribution to a range of internal functional groups.

  • External stakeholder management and engagement.

Internal and External Contacts:

  • Position is accountable to GMUH-Dermatology.

  • Internal: medical sub-team of the respective assets’ GPT.

  • Internal: TAU, commercial, market access, publications, and other sub-teams.

  • External: academic, professional, regulatory, policy, patient advocacy leaders, strategic vendor partners

Other Job Requirements:

  • Availability to travel approximately 30% of time.

  • Some activities may call for early or late meetings and attendances at scientific meetings on holidays and weekends.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$228,200.00 - $358,600.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives.
