Job Description
About the role
The Plant Engineering Lead directs and oversees key engineering operations within the organization. This role is accountable for ensuring production processes meet standards for quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and overall performance. By providing strategic direction and technical expertise, the Plant Engineering Lead drives continuous improvement and contributes to the long-term efficiency and effectiveness of plant engineering operations.
How you will contribute
Lead a team of managers, supervisors, engineers, and utility operators across core plant engineering functions.
Oversee all Facility and Utility systems, including plant/clean utilities, HVAC, cleanrooms, BAS, and security systems.
Provide strategic leadership and hands‑on operational support to ensure reliable, high‑availability systems.
Manage budgets, schedules, metrics, performance standards, and stakeholder communication.
Drive continuous improvement and digital manufacturing initiatives to enhance efficiency and system performance.
Partner with cross‑functional teams to align engineering activities with site priorities.
Serve as SME for facility and utility equipment, supporting investigations and technical decisions.
Lead hiring, development, and performance management for engineering and utility teams.
Guide facility/equipment design changes, commissioning, qualification, and maintenance programs.
Oversee utility operations, maintenance, documentation, change controls, and regulatory compliance.
Prioritize and execute engineering projects and sustainable corrective actions.
Support the site's environmental sustainability program.
Perform required training and additional duties as assigned.

What you bring to Takeda
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 8+ years of experience in plant, utility, facility, or process engineering (GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing experience preferred).
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Key Skills & Competencies
Proven experience supporting plant operations and projects within FDA‑regulated or GMP environments.
Strong grounding in engineering fundamentals (fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, mass transfer) and practical application of project management methodologies.
Ability to work effectively in fast‑paced, cross‑functional, team‑oriented environments.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions to meet site objectives.
Strong planning and prioritization skills, including sound judgment on when to escalate issues.
Experience leading, managing, and developing technical teams.
Physical Demands
Combination of office work and walking throughout the facility.
Occasional climbing of ladders/stairs and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Work & Travel Requirements
Occasional off‑shift work and participation in 24/7 utility on‑call support.
Use of PPE and cleanroom garments when working in specific facility areas or around chemicals.
Occasional travel for training, meetings, or equipment testing (e.g., FAT).

For Location:
Brooklyn Park, MNU.S. Base Salary Range:
$137,000.00 - $215,270.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
