Job Description

OBJECTIVES:

  • To champion a RDBU PECS centralized congress and sponsorship model that meets the needs of the customers the RDBU serves today, enables improved ways of working to create integrated customer experiences. And develops rare/rare-like capability innovation for tomorrow.

  • To lead congress strategy and planning across the RDBU

  • To lead RDBU congress and sponsorship team – managing two Congress and Sponsorship Coordinator Leads to ensure effective congress and sponsorship processes and enabling Coordinator Leads in-role development. 

  • To oversee effective execution of brand/Franchise congress strategy (presence, creative, omnichannel integration) by either RDBU PECS team or by brand Marketers) that delivers on Franchise needs while challenging the status quo and finding solutions that create agility across the RDBU and USBU Takeda enterprise.  

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Create frameworks to facilitate alignment across different cross-functional groups (including medical strategy/comms/field/sponsorships) to ensure coordinated planning across cross-functional teams as well as BUs. Collaborate with manager and cross-functional partners to optimize RDBU congress workstreams to align with larger enterprise needs and PECS model.

  • Lead 1-2 congress capability, ways of working, or vendor assessments workstream(s) to help BU and enterprise evolve for the future, challenge the status quo, and improve agility.

  • Responsible for partnering across the RDBU to develop – or consult on development – of each Franchise’s annual congress strategy and plan aligned with to their strategic imperatives.

  • Lead execution of Tier 1 congresses for HAE, Hematology, and LSD (oversee execution for Transplant) by partnering with the franchise professional engagement marketers, brand marketers, omnichannel/ROMC marketers, sales leadership, medical strategy/comms, meetings and events and managing appropriate vendors.

  • Serve as project owner (PO) for congress experiences (i.e. booth builds, schematics) and any other necessary materials/collateral (ex: pre-conference decks) in Veeva Vault and Promotional Review Team (PRT) reviews.

  • Responsible for budget management as well as measuring the performance of any programs/tactics they oversee (and working with PECS team and across the RDBU to create larger congress measurement frameworks). Reporting back to Franchise and their manager on an ongoing basis. Specifically: 1.) Provide annual budget forecast recommendation for purchase orders they oversee; open POs and track spend against forecast; perform all monthly accruals and invoicing, and update forecast as appropriate for financial planning cycles – identifying any tradeoffs 2.) Lead monthly (as required) and quarterly measurement for QBRs, 3.) Proactively identify trends and insights to optimize spend, and as appropriate, congress performance.

  • Responsible for working with their manager to develop PECS Congress and Sponsorship team goals and ensure alignment of direct report’s individual goals.

  • Consult with legal, regulatory, and ethics & compliance to ensure all activities are compliant with policies and regulations. As a Project Owner of promotional tactics, responsible for working within the internal review process on a consultative basis to seek input on concepts and to seek required approvals for marketing strategies and tactics.

  • Manage external agencies and consultants/contractors to meet project expectations to be completed on time hold them accountable to agreed standards and contract expectations while showing ability to partner with these party to ensure prioritization of larger patient, customer, and business needs.

  • Serve as back-up for team members as needed and direct manager when requested. Ensure coverage for direct reports for the management of sponsorship processing when necessary.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • Must have 7 years of progressively responsible marketing, advertising, sales, or healthcare system/provider experience or related experience within the bio-pharmaceutical industry.

  • Must have strong leadership skills with an ability to set direction, generate commitment, identify, and resolve issues, and evaluate risk. Equally important is the ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams at varying levels with a proven ability to influence without authority.

  • Demonstrated experience in converting strategy into action and track record strong strong project management and results orientation.

  • Experience working in healthcare or other highly regulated industries (including experience in working in Veeva Vault or similar systems) preferred

  • Must be highly organized, used to planning months/years in advance but also able to pivot to meet customer, team, and business needs, and proactive in capturing and measuring/reporting on the execution of activities.

  • Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Must have the ability to navigate ambiguity.

  • Must be able to perform in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously – showing strong acumen for prioritization and time management.

  • Must have strong analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking skills.

  • Must have strong financial management and budgeting capabilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Manual dexterity required to operate office equipment (i.e., computers, phones, etc.)

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.

  • Carrying, handling, and reaching for objects

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires approximately 20% travel.
  • Willingness to travel to various internal and external meetings and conferences that could include overnight stays ranging from one to several nights. Some weekend and/or international travel may be required.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$137,000.00 - $215,270.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives.
