Job Description

About the Role:

The U.S. Business Unit (USBU) Executive Communications Head will lead executive communications and thought leadership strategy for the USBU President and U.S. Country Head. Reporting to the VP, Head of Communications, U.S., this role will partner closely with the USBU Communications team to develop and deliver impactful communications that inform, inspire, and engage both internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will create compelling narratives and high-impact content, leveraging innovative channels and technologies to strengthen employee understanding and engagement while elevating Takeda's reputation and thought leadership presence across key external audiences.

How You Contribute:

  • Develop a comprehensive, integrated internal and external communications plan for the USBU and the USBU President and U.S. Country Head, aligned with the overall Takeda narrative and in partnership with the Vice President of U.S. and Global Corporate Communications team and key internal/external communications partners.

  • Serve as trusted communications advisor to the USBU President and U.S. Country Head, providing strategic counsel on executive positioning and communications opportunities.

  • Identify and elevate opportunities for the USBU President and U.S. Country Head to engage employees and external audiences through strategic speaking engagements, media opportunities, and thought leadership platforms.

  • Partner closely with business leaders and subject matter experts to translate complex business, policy, and healthcare topics into clear, audience-centric communications that inspire action and understanding.

  • Drive executive visibility across internal and external channels, ensuring consistent messaging, alignment with corporate priorities, and effective amplification of key business initiatives.

  • Create compelling narratives, speeches, presentations, talking points, opinion pieces, videos, social content, and other executive communications that reflect Takeda's values, strategy, and leadership perspective.

  • Partner with internal subject matter experts to develop communications plans and materials as needed to support USBU and pan-U.S. communications, utilizing AI tools to drive efficiency and innovation.

  • Support business unit communications leads to ensure coordination and alignment with business leaders, leveraging our narrative and storytelling to engage their internal and external stakeholders and strengthen our reputation across the U.S.

  • Equip USBU leaders with the tools and resources to become Takeda storytellers and speak confidently about Takeda's role in the U.S. and how the organization is living its purpose.

  • Measure the effectiveness of executive communications, continually looking for ways to modify, innovate and improve to deliver maximum value for intended audience, including through use of innovative technology.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree – BS/BA Majors in Journalism, Communications or public policy/public affairs preferred.

  • A minimum of 12+ years of professional experience with progressively increasing  levels of responsibility  required.

  • Executive communications experience is required.

  • Strategic business partner with the ability to translate business information into language that employees and customers can understand.

  • Experience in adopting and driving AI-powered solutions.

  • Ability to negotiate and form consensus among various parties is important.

  • Experience in the healthcare/biopharmaceutical industry is preferred.

  • Strong social media experience preferred.

  • A naturally creative writer who can write clear, compelling narratives customized for various stakeholders.

  • Ability to work directly with senior executives and a proven track record in developing authentic and inspiring executive communications.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong organizational skills accompanied by the ability to multi-task and problem-solve.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

  • Team player and self-starter with a positive attitude.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$212,000.00 - $333,190.00


The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
