About the role:
The Medical Scientific Liaison is responsible for establishing, developing, and strengthening medical-scientific collaborative relationships with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs), particularly Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), within their professional practice environment. This role places patient needs and patient safety at the center of all activities, supporting accurate diagnosis and appropriate disease management.
As part of the Medical Affairs function, this position performs non-promotional medical-scientific activities and provides scientific support across the therapeutic areas within the corresponding franchise.
How you will contribute:
- Build and maintain professional relationships with relevant external stakeholders, primarily HCPs, through ethical and scientific exchange, with the objective of supporting Takeda’s research efforts and identifying opportunities for collaboration in advisory activities and educational initiatives.
- Develop high-quality one-to-one scientific relationships with key KOLs across the healthcare landscape, including academic stakeholders, payers, and government institutions, in alignment with the territory strategic plan and the scientific needs of KOLs.
- Manage strategic scientific collaborations and scientific exchange activities in accordance with Medical Affairs objectives.
- Provide scientific support to investigators participating in Takeda-sponsored clinical studies, investigator-initiated studies, collaborative studies, and global development studies.
- Act as a scientific liaison between HCPs and the Takeda Medical Affairs team.
- Facilitate both individual and group scientific interactions with healthcare professionals.
- Ensure that HCPs and key KOLs remain informed on scientific topics relevant to the therapeutic area, promoting a deeper understanding of disease and the appropriate use of Takeda products for the benefit of patients.
- Identify and prioritize scientific information gaps and evidence-generation needs among HCPs and KOLs through an effective interaction plan.
- Maintain the KOL Interaction Plan in an updated, accurate, and ethical manner.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Continuing Medical Education (CME) initiatives relevant to the therapeutic area.
- Support market access teams by sharing scientific literature and relevant evidence to help inform decision-making regarding product inclusion across healthcare institutions.
- Deliver scientific, non-promotional presentations on disease states within the therapeutic area, as well as on Takeda Mexico products, to national, regional, or state-level institutions, as appropriate.
- Participate actively in national and international congresses, as well as regional medical forums and association meetings, to support scientific and CME-related activities.
- Provide scientific support to internal stakeholders, including business units, marketing, market access, and training teams, according to organizational needs.
- Communicate key insights gathered from KOLs and HCPs to support the refinement of medical strategies and tactics.
- Develop and implement Medical Affairs materials.
- Ensure compliance with the key performance indicators (KPIs) established for the role.
- Collaborate actively in the development and delivery of training sessions for internal and external stakeholders in line with the medical plan and emerging therapeutic-area strategy needs.
What you bring to Takeda:
- Bachelor’s degree in medicine.
- Strong scientific knowledge.
- Previous experience as an MSL is desirable.
- Previous experience in clinical practice, medical roles, and/or clinical research within the relevant therapeutic area is desirable; a medical specialty or postgraduate studies would be considered an asset.
- Experience as a speaker in medical sessions.
- Strong english communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, as well as virtual meeting and communication platforms such as Teams, Webex, and Zoom
