Job Description

Objective / Purpose:

TheEHSWaste Managementis responsible forensuring that waste disposal at the HikariPlant isproperly managedin compliance with applicable regulations, supporting the continuous operation of manufacturing activities for patients.

  • PerformEHS-relateddutiesataprofessionalleveland workscloselywith EHS Partnersatthe HikariPlant.

  • Managewastedisposalatthe HikariPlant.

Accountabilities:

Waste Management 

  • Managein-house industrialwasteandoutsourcedindustrialwaste.

  • Providesafetyguidanceonwastemanagement torelevantdepartments.

  • Operate thewasteincinerator.

  • Developandmanagebudgets andactualexpendituresrelatedtoenvironmentaltreatment.

  • Manageoutsourcing activities.

Environmental Protection 

  • Preparenotificationsandpermitsinaccordancewithenvironmentallawsandregulations, andrespondtogovernmentalinspectionsand sitevisits.

  • Liaise andnegotiatewithenvironmentalauthoritiesandrelatedorganizations.

  • RespondtorequestsfromcEHS.

Equipment Management and Technical Review 

  • Developandimplementfuture plans forenvironmentalequipment.

  • Manageprocessesandconsiderimprovementsforexistingenvironmentalequipment.

  • Review treatmenttechnologiesandidentify/applynewtechnologies.

  • Developandimplementmaintenanceandrenewalplans forexistingenvironmentalequipment.

  • Studyrationalizationmeasuresforexistingenvironmentalequipment.

  • Collaborate with contractors.

Fixed Asset Management of Environmental Equipment

  • Managefixedassets.

  • Plan budgets and placepurchaseorders.

Support for EHS Members

  • Support the work of EHS members at the Hikari Plant.

Education & Competencies(Technical and Behavioral):

Education

  • High school diploma or higher. A degree in chemistry, engineering, biology, agriculture, environmental science, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

Required:

  • Experience in occupational health and safety, safety training, or environmental management at a manufacturing site with chemical facilities, not limited to the pharmaceutical industry. Ability to independently drive the full process fromidentifyingEHS issues and opportunities toimplementingsolutions through effective communication with employees.

  • Ability to understand site operating procedures (SOPs) and develop training materials related to waste management.

  • Basic computer literacy, includingproficiencyin Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in occupational health and safety, science, engineering, ora relateddiscipline.

  • Knowledge of EHS management systems and practices, such as ISO 14001/45001 and waste management.

  • At least 3 years of experience in EHS-related roles, including experience inmanagementsystem operation and administration.

  • Results-driven, with the ability to develop plans and solutions and deliver outcomes in ambiguous situations.

  • Able to provideappropriate inputand opinions regardless of organizational level or title.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound andtimelydecision-making ability.

  • Open-minded and adaptable, with the ability torespond toandcommunicate changeeffectively.

  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Certification as a Class 1 or Class 3 Pollution Control Manager for air-related matters.

  • Certification as a Class 1 Pollution Control Manager for water-related matters.

  • Japanese: Native level

  • English: Basic level

Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary:

  • Allowances: Commutation, Housing, Overtime Work etc.

  • Salary Increase: Annually, Bonus Payment: Twice a year

  • Working Hours: Headquarters (Osaka/ Tokyo) 9:00-17:30, Production Sites (Osaka/ Yamaguchi) 8:00-16:45, (Narita) 8:30-17:15, Research Site (Kanagawa) 9:00-17:45

  • Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, May Day, Year-End Holidays etc. (approx. 123 days in a year)
