As a company we offer roles based on merit, welcoming candidates of any gender, age, religious belief, sexual orientation, race, color, ethnic or social origin, or disability.

Our team is growing and for this we need bright minds with creativity and flexibility – what talent do you have?

About the role

Join Takeda as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in Gastroenterology and become a trusted scientific partner to healthcare professionals across the Netherlands. In this field-based role, you will drive high-quality scientific exchange, generate valuable medical insights, support evidence generation, and contribute to the successful implementation of Takeda’s medical strategy.

Working at the intersection of science, innovation, and patient care, you will build meaningful relationships with external experts, help advance clinical understanding, and contribute to improving outcomes for patients living with gastrointestinal diseases. This role offers a dynamic environment with approximately 80% field-based activities and collaboration across diverse internal and external stakeholders.

How you will contribute

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, and other external scientific stakeholders.

  • Lead scientific discussions and communicate complex clinical data in a clear, balanced, and impactful way.

  • Deliver non-promotional medical education through scientific meetings, advisory boards, congresses, and other engagement activities.

  • Gather and share insights on clinical practice, unmet medical needs, treatment trends, and patient journeys to inform medical and business strategy.

  • Identify evidence gaps and support evidence-generation activities, including collaborations with investigators and clinical research initiatives.

  • Act as a scientific partner to cross-functional teams, contributing to medical plans, launch readiness activities, and strategic initiatives.

  • Leverage digital, CRM, analytics, and AI-enabled tools to optimise stakeholder engagement and insight generation.

  • Support internal capability building through scientific training and knowledge sharing.

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with healthcare regulations, pharmacovigilance requirements, data privacy standards, and Takeda policies.

What you bring to Takeda

Required

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Medical Science Liaison, Clinical Research, or a similar scientific field-based role.

  • Strong understanding of clinical research methodologies, study design, and interpretation of clinical data.

  • Experience building productive relationships with healthcare professionals and scientific stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional and matrix organisations.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate science into meaningful insights.

  • Strong analytical thinking and a strategic, patient-focused mindset.

  • Experience using digital tools, CRM systems, data analytics platforms, or omnichannel engagement approaches.

  • Fluent English and Dutch language skills.

Preferred

  • Experience within Gastroenterology, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), or related therapeutic areas.

  • Experience supporting advisory boards, medical education programmes, or evidence-generation initiatives.

  • Familiarity with AI-enabled insights and digital engagement tools.

  • Experience supporting product launches or launch readiness activities.
