About the role
Join Takeda as an Associate Director, US Medical Affairs Sponsorship where you will strategically develop and oversee the annual US Medical Affairs sponsorships and corporate membership plan, encompassing all therapeutic and disease areas. You will also establish and maintain proactive engagement with external organizations to secure sponsorship opportunities aligned with Takeda’s priorities and the US Medical Affairs sponsorships and corporate membership plan. As part of the US Medical team, you will report to the Head of HCP/HCO Engagements. This is a hybrid position based in Lexington, MA.
How you will contribute
• Foster collaboration across Takeda business units to efficiently support and implement sponsorships and corporate memberships backed entirely or partially by US Medical Affairs.
• Lead the evaluation and approval process for sponsorships and corporate memberships endorsed by US Medical Affairs.
• Monitor and analyze the progress and outcomes of sponsorships and corporate memberships supported wholly or partially by US Medical Affairs.
• You will collaborate with key internal stakeholders, including members of the assigned US Medical Unit(s), such as Medical and Scientific Directors, along with cross-functional medical partners like Ethics & Compliance (E&C), Medical Communications, Strategic Alliances, Publications, Project Managers, and Legal teams. Additionally, it will engage with other business units and functional groups, such as Global Medical Affairs, Oncology, and Medical & Commercial teams.
• Embedded within the US Medical Affairs Medical Grants and Sponsorships team, this role will collaborate closely with internal teams while engaging with key external stakeholders, including grant requestors and sponsorship point of contacts at professional societies.
• Lead cross-functional teams to design and execute the US Medical Affairs sponsorship and corporate membership strategy, covering all therapeutic and disease areas, ensuring alignment with identified medical-scientific priorities and overarching business objectives.
• Plan, oversee, and manage the annual budget for US Medical Affairs sponsorships and corporate memberships in close collaboration with Grant Managers, ensuring fiscal responsibility, strategic alignment, and responsiveness to business dynamics.
• Foster partnerships with external organizations, driving sponsorships and corporate memberships as outlined in the strategic plan, and actively strengthening relationships to advance organizational goals.
• Oversee compliance processes for sponsorship and corporate membership initiatives, ensuring adherence to internal policies, SOPs, and guidelines, as well as external regulations from agencies such as the FDA, OIG, state reporting laws, and industry standards like PhRMA.
• Coordinate benefit distribution from sponsored activities across US Medical Affairs and collaborate with cross-business unit and cross-functional partners for optimal integration and impact.
• Develop and refine procedural frameworks for review, approval, monitoring, and communication of US Medical Affairs sponsorships and corporate memberships, optimizing operational efficiency and maintaining compliance through stakeholder collaboration.
• Support, manage, and implement the medical education grants and sponsorship(s) and tactical plan(s) to support overall shared US Medical and business objectives and contributes to the overall medical strategy.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in a health sciences-related field is required.
• 4+ years of experience in Medical Affairs-focused roles, project management, or related positions within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with proven expertise in engaging diverse audiences.
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience with legal and regulatory guidelines related to sponsorships and corporate memberships for external organizations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables effectively in dynamic environments.
• Strong relationship-building skills with internal teams and external partners, fostering collaboration and trust.
• Proactive problem-solving capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to identify, communicate, and resolve issues efficiently.
• Solid understanding of financial principles and ability to apply them in managing projects and therapeutic area budgets.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and project management tools/software.
Preferred
• Advanced degree in a health sciences field (e.g., MS, PhD, PharmD, NP, PA, RD, MPH,
• MsEd) is preferred.
• Experience utilizing grant management systems (research or non-research) effectively in professional settings.
• Experience in engaging with professional societies and/or non-profit organizations.
Travel Requirements
• Ability to travel up to 10% to various professional meetings, conferences and client sites – limited overnight.

$168,700.00 - $265,100.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
