Job Description
The Quality Services and Improvement team, within Quality Assurance, partners with internal Data, Digital & Technology (IT) & Business Excellence teams to drive innovative initiatives. These initiatives, both digital and non-digital, continually enhance capabilities and improve overall operational efficiencies, and add value to our stakeholder functions.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Improvement Intern to join the Quality Services and Improvement team at our Libertyville office. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a broad range of Quality initiatives in the pharmaceutical industry, including but not limited to digital transformation, process optimization, and continuous improvement projects.
How You Will Contribute:
In this role, you will:
Support activities that drive efficiency and value creation across site manufacturing and quality operations, including digital transformation (e.g., electronic batch records, eForms) and process improvement (e.g., streamlining workflows, updating specifications, supporting compliance initiatives)
Create data visualizations and reports using tools like Power BI. You will help create clear, impactful visuals and dashboards that enable stakeholders to understand trends, patterns, and insights within the data
Collaborate on cross-functional projects by engaging with multiple teams within the business unit, gaining experience with both digital and non-digital Quality initiatives
Participate in general continuous improvement initiatives for the QA team, such as process mapping, deviation reduction, and implementation of best practices
Contribute to the adoption and optimization of new technologies and methodologies, including AI tools, automation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Internship Development Opportunities:
Direct Experience: Exposure to real-world Quality improvement projects, including digital transformation and process optimization
Mentorship and Networking: Direct mentorship from a Quality Manager, along with opportunities to connect with other professionals in the pharmaceutical industry. Cross-functional collaboration with other departments at the site and global organization.
Skill-Building: Develop technical skills in process mapping, data transformation, and visualization. Learning industry-standard tools and best practices.
Project Ownership: Take responsibility for small Quality improvement projects, from design to implementation, providing practical project management experience.
Job Requirements:
This position will be onsite 5 days per week in the Libertyville office.
Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Science or related fields.
Strong interest in Quality improvement, process optimization, and innovative technologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of SQL or JavaScript a plus.
Basic understanding of computer skills including MS Office (PowerPoint, Words, Excel).
Highly reliable and a strong team player.
Flexible with an attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Internship Eligibility
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2026 or later
The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (May 26th-August 14th or June 15th- August 21st)
The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames
Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates
Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

$21.00 - $46.00
The estimated hourly range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship.The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
