Job Description

Takeda’s Round Lake site, located in the greater Chicago area, is a key part of our global Plasma Operating Unit. The manufacturing site specializes in the aseptic fill-finish of plasma-derived therapies, including Flexbumin, using our proprietary GALAXY manufacturing technology. With high-capacity filling lines operating around the clock, the site plays a vital role in delivering life-saving treatments to patients worldwide. Since its launch in 1983, Round Lake has continuously evolved through innovation, investment, and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.

About the role

As the Site Head at our Round Lake Manufacturing Site, you will lead a team focused on the aseptic fill-finish operations of plasma-derived therapies. You’ll oversee all manufacturing operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, directly impacting our ability to deliver high-quality products for global patients.

How you will contribute

  • Provide overall leadership for the Round Lake site, overseeing 24/7 sterile fill-finish and downstream operations, including inspection, packaging, supply chain, engineering, and business functions.
  • Ensure production aligns with Plasma Operating Unit goals, maintaining product quality and safety.
  • Set strategic direction and lead the Site Leadership Team to deliver high-quality products on time, optimizing resources and managing budgets effectively.
  • Drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and sustainability initiatives to achieve world-class performance.
  • Lead transformation and innovation, supporting the introduction of new products, processes, and technologies.
  • Collaborate across Takeda’s global network to align strategies and resolve challenges.
  • Develop talent and succession planning to strengthen future leadership at the site.
  • Represent Takeda with external stakeholders, including regulators, partners, and the local community.
  • Manage operations across diverse technologies and a complex supply chain, ensuring adaptability to changing environments and cultural factors.
  • Navigate shared responsibilities within a Co-owned Campus, requiring effective situational leadership and management of contractual relationships.
  • Oversee high-tech environments and collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams for seamless integration of processes and technologies.

What you bring to Takeda

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering required; advanced degree (MBA or related field) preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including 10+ years in manufacturing leadership roles within GMP environments.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale plant operations, ideally aseptic sterile fill-finish.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, quality systems, and site management.
  • Demonstrated success in change management, financial oversight, and operational excellence (Lean/Six Sigma preferred).
  • Experience managing diverse teams in a matrixed, global organization.
  • Ability to influence, communicate, and build strong partnerships across stakeholders.

  • Work in controlled manufacturing environments requiring special gowning and protective equipment.
  • Follow strict safety and hygiene rules, which may include the removal of personal items (make-up, jewelry, nail polish, contact lenses, etc.) in production areas.
  • Work in environments with varying temperatures, chemicals, or biological products requiring additional protection.
  • Be available for multiple shifts, weekend work, or supplemental hours as needed to support 24/7 operations.
  • Travel internationally up to 10%.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$255,800.00 - $401,940.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
