Job Description
About the role:
The Warehouse Shipping & Receiving / Driver is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely storage, movement, shipping, and receiving of materials and finished goods. This role supports inventory accuracy and warehouse execution while contributing to efficient supply chain operations. This position operates at an advanced technical operations level and is non-supervisory. The role requires strong working knowledge of technical processes within the area of responsibility, the ability to work independently within established procedures, and the capability to coordinate activities that may impact areas beyond immediate assignments. The incumbent is expected to execute complex work, drive quality in technical processes, and propose process improvements based on experience and operational needs.
How you will contribute:
Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment in accordance with safety requirements and operating procedures.
Perform palletizing, staging, and efficient stacking of product and materials.
Execute order picking accurately and efficiently to meet shipment and production requirements.
Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
Maintain accurate inventory records and support inventory control activities to sustain optimal stock levels.
Complete required documentation and reports accurately and on time.
Perform basic calculations required for warehouse transactions and inventory activities.
Collaborate effectively within the team to achieve department goals and meet deadlines.
Manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.
Identify, recommend, and support implementation of process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Support Warehouse Coordinators with daily tasks and departmental activities.
Communicate daily activities clearly and proactively resolve issues.
Assist leadership in resolving discrepancies related to inventory, operations, and other workflow challenges.
Prepare shift documentation and work assignments to support efficient execution.
Train Warehouse Coordinators on SOPs and processes; cross-train employees to ensure adequate coverage and backup support.
Participate in deviation investigations, as assigned.
Comply with SOPs, cGMP requirements, environmental health and safety standards, and all applicable departmental/site procedures.
Support departmental and site projects based on business needs.
Maintain an up-to-date training record, including SOP revisions and required training completion.
Operate commercial vehicles safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
Conduct daily pre-trip and basic safety inspections; identify, document, and report maintenance or safety issues for timely repair.
Maintain accurate, compliant driver logs and documentation, including submission of daily vehicle inspection reports.
Communicate effectively with Operations, Warehouse, and drivers/colleagues to resolve issues and support day-to-day execution.
Monitor shift transportation activity, including order flow, dock/door assignments, dispatch activities, and coordination with contract carriers supporting Production and other departments.
Direct carrier drivers on empty trailer drop procedures and load pick-up processes.
Secure freight in trailers using approved tools and supplies (e.g., pallets, straps, load bars) as provided.
Verify shipment details and complete all required transportation documentation and reports accurately and on time.
Assist material handlers, colleagues, and supervisors in identifying and resolving discrepancies, including product misplacement.
What you bring to Takeda:
High School Diploma or GED. 6+ years of related work experience or AA degree or higher and 4+ years related work experience.
Safety-sensitive role; must demonstrate safe and effective driving skills, forklift operation skills, and material-handling equipment operation skills.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Basic written and verbal communication skills for documentation and routine collaboration.
Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
Ability to work independently with limited or no direct supervision.
Ability to speak, read, write, and follow detailed written and verbal instructions in English.
Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of basic chemical and biological safety procedures (preferred).
Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a commercial vehicle.
Must hold a valid driver’s license with a minimum of 90 days of verifiable driving history.
Must meet all applicable State of Illinois and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements.
Must successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check.
Must possess, at minimum, a valid Illinois Class C non-commercial driver’s license.
Must possess and maintain a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (Form MCSA-5876).
Important Considerations
At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:
Must be able to push/pull more than 100 lbs. with the assistance of material-handling equipment.
Must be able to carry up to 25 lbs. unassisted and lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
Must be able to operate powered industrial trucks.
Must be able to stand for extended periods during an 8-hour shift.
May require bending, twisting, reaching overhead, and/or squatting to perform certain tasks.
Must be able to work in controlled environments requiring special gowning.
Will be required to wear personal protective equipment on the face, hands, feet, and body.
May work in warm and cold environments.
Must be able to work on multiple shifts, including weekends and holidays, to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
Must be able to work non-traditional work hours or work extended hours, as needed.
Must be able to work overtime as required.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term incentives.
