Job Description
About the Role:
The Head of New Product Planning is responsible for driving and coordinating the strategic planning, forecasting, and acceleration of late-stage pipeline assets across Growth & Emerging Markets (GEM). This role ensures alignment with global filing timelines, resource planning, and launch readiness. It also leads portfolio and lifecycle management (LCM) assessments, investment prioritization, and early asset evaluations in collaboration with cross-functional teams including Commercial, Medical, and Global Product & Launch Strategy (GPLS). It is a crucial role as it connects and shapes the value-add work from global functions within Takeda to GEM.
How you will Contribute:
- Drive and coordinate late-stage pipeline understanding, forecasting, and acceleration through the GEM PACT initiative, including global filing timelines, resourcing, and launch readiness.
- Ensure clear and consistent support from global functions for pipeline by mapping out and leveraging value add of Global (e.g. Marketing & Commercial Excellence (MCE), GPLS, Data, Digital & Technology (DDT), etc) into GEM prioritized needs and processes.
- Establish organized cross-functional approach to pre-launch phase for understanding disease areas, product potential, resource needs and shaping a comprehensive launch plan, partnering with Areas, key LOCs and Global.
- Lead portfolio and lifecycle management (LCM) assessments and prioritization of investment strategy by partnering with Area Leads, key LOCs and Global.
- Conduct commercial opportunity assessments for products and provide early asset feedback to GPLS and MCE.
- Partner with Medical Affairs to support and expand the GEM clinical trial footprint.
- Align commercial perspectives with GEM leadership to shape portfolio and pipeline planning.
- Act as the main point of contact for New Product Planning (NPP) topics with GPLS and MCE and represent GEM in CST/CLC meetings (excluding Oncology).
- Provide input into forecasting assumptions of the Long-Range Forecast (LRF) and Mid-Range Plan (MRP) in collaboration with Finance and GPLS/MCE.
- Keep the regional president informed on all LCM and BD projects led by MCE.
- Participate in GEM-level Launch Excellence Governance meetings and interface with MCE to update GEM President on commercial considerations relating to pipeline assets.
- Ensure high-quality insights and analytics to understand customer needs across Takeda’s portfolio and pipeline.
- Build collaborative networks with GEM HQ and global stakeholders to ensure prioritization and planning align with patient needs and strategic goals.
Role Requirement:
- Strong commercial experience across multiple therapeutic areas and / or countries with an in-depth understanding of market dynamics in GEM.
- Strong cross-functional awareness of & working with medical, access, and DDT colleagues at LOC, regional and global level.
- Extensive experience and capability in brand planning, launch preparation and launch execution in multiple TAs and ideally at LOC and regional / global level. Direct experience and success in LOC, regional and/or global commercial roles.
- Ability to think strategically and be able to navigate operational challenges to drive organizational effectiveness.
- Strong business acumen, with appreciation for cross-cultural and cross-functional differences and able to deal with ambiguity effectively.
- Ability to communicate ideas in a persuasive & clear manner and be able to build collaborative relationships in complex cross-functional matrices.
- Capacity to engage and influence a range of stakeholders (e.g., GEMLT, Areas, LOCs, MCE, GPLS, cross-functional partners across Takeda).
- Positive mindset with clear focus and understanding of patient and customer needs.
- Good judgment & decision-making skills, with demonstrated success in problem-solving and ability to deal with ambiguity.
