Job Description
About the role:
The Utilities Supervisor is responsible for implementing, supervising daily operation and maintenance activities of utilities equipment at the site. This includes day-to-day operation, maintenance and support, preventive and corrective maintenance, shutdown scheduling and vendor management. This position will support reliability centered maintenance and TPM for process systems, including OEE and other maintenance metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). The Supervisor is responsible for oversight of operation, maintenance and troubleshooting support while maintaining compliance with the current manufacturing practices, environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines and any local regulations that could apply through strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP's in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing facility.
The Utilities Supervisor will direct the day to day activities of Operations and Maintenance Technicians. He/she is expected to drive results to support plant strategic imperatives. He/she must enforce company rules and regulations and promote Takeda Core Values within his/her shift. He/she is expected to coach/mentor employees to drive performance. He/she must be able to prepare and present technical reports and trends. He/she must have the ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing plant setting, and prioritize responsibilities of self and direct reports appropriately. He/she must have organizational and administrative skills.
How you will contribute:
- Supervise, lead and coordinate utilities operation and maintenance shift crews.
- Responsible for operation and maintenance of the utilities throughout facility on your shift.
- Organize and review daily Work Orders (WO) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) work.
- Maintain daily communications with planning, scheduling and manufacturing counterparts to ensure needs are met.
- Facilitate and verify appropriate training for all employees on the shift (including but not limited to cGMPs, job skills, safety, etc.).
- Efficiently coordinate the workflow and documentation of PMs and WOs.
- Must be familiar with plant and divisional SOPs as related to positional and department responsibilities.
- Review procedures and update them as necessary.
- Ensure a safe work environment is maintained through adherence to safety guidelines and policies.
- Must follow safety rules and ensure compliance with GA state and federal EPA regulation and laws. Specific responsible system repairs, upkeep, and maintenance managed within regulating agencies such as OSHA.
- Continuously stay current with assigned SOPs and keep an up to date training file ensuring compliance with all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure all mandatory training requirements are met, including annual EHS training, GMP refresher training and any applicable training requirements.
- Maintain an on-going two-way performance dialogue with Manager and meet timelines for completing all mid and year-end reviews and development plans for self and direct reports.
- Demonstrate continuous progress with respect to increasing job knowledge and proficiency in technical understanding/problem solving.
- Maintain a positive, professional and customer-oriented attitude. Communicate any concerns related to safe work practices, hostile work environment, sexual harassment or any other type of employee misconduct directly to the supervisor, manager or human resources.
- Analyze, propose and correct longer-term solutions to existing and repeating problems.
- Inspect, monitor, assess and assure the facility and equipment remains cGMP compliant and in a constant state of audit readiness.
- Order and Maintain chemical inventory
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Work with manufacturing, quality, EHS, engineering, vendor/contractors, security and other department supervisors and management.
What you bring to Takeda:
- Typically requires high school diploma or GED plus 6+ years of related experience or bachelors' degree in occupational health and safety, sciences, engineering or related field and 3+ years of related experience. Some leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of lab techniques, theory, and practical hands-on sampling and testing
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, SCADA, process control software and other computer base applications
- Must have demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to interface well with personnel of all levels.
- Must be able to work and facilitate a team-oriented environment.
- Must possess problem-solving skills.
- Must have organizational and administrative skills.
- Must have strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Must have demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing setting and prioritize responsibilities of self and direct reports appropriately.
- Must have the ability to analyze and interpret scientific and statistical data.
- Must have ability to understand cGMPs and other regulatory guidelines applicable to the medical/pharmaceutical industry.
- Must have strong aptitude for operation and controls of utilities equipment and processes.
- Proficient within CMMS, JDE and or Maximo
- May be required to supervise multiple groups.
Important Considerations

- May work in a cold, wet environment.
- May be exposed to sunlight and heat.
- May be exposed to dust, gases, and fumes.
- May be required to stand and walk frequently while evaluating utilities equipment.
- May be around moving equipment and machinery.
- May climb up and into large tanks for inspection.
- May be working in a loud area that requires hearing protection and other protective equipment to be worn.
- May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, and buffers that may require respiratory protection.
- May be required to work or be assigned to a different shift as needed.
- This position requires shift, weekend and holiday work.
- Must be able to work 12 hours shifts and rotate with assigned shift.
- Overtime may be required at times.
- Requires performing activities within the utilities equipment, mechanical work and computer-based activities.
May be required to lift up to 25 pounds when managing chemicals.

$89,900.00 - $141,240.00
The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives.
