Job Title : Franchise Director, Specialty - Oceania
Location: Sydney, Australia
About the role:
We are hiring a senior commercial leader to lead the Specialty Franchise in Oceania and shape its next chapter. This franchise includes Gastroenterology (GI), Neuroscience and Vaccines, with responsibility for over AUD$100M in revenue, multiple strategic products, and pipeline assets. You’ll lead strategic direction, drive commercial performance, and build the team and capabilities needed to succeed in a complex and evolving environment.
You’ve likely been recognised for your commercial achievements and leadership success. Now, we’re looking for someone who can apply that experience to anticipate change, solve problems creatively, and lead with clarity and purpose.
Key responsibilities
- Strategic vision: Define and execute a compelling franchise strategy that supports long-term growth. Translate insights into action and adjust course as needed to stay ahead of market shifts.
- Lead team & Build capability: Inspire, empower, and develop teams with clear goals and shared accountability. Strengthen team capability in areas such as digital & data analysis, manage structure and headcount, and foster cross-functional collaboration.
- Own commercial & Financial outcomes: Take full responsibility for P&L, budgets, and resource allocation. Apply strong financial and business acumen to optimise performance and support strategic priorities.
- Scan the environment & respond to change: Analyse market activity and trends and customer needs to inform strategic adjustments.
- Engage stakeholders & Drive innovation: Partner with external stakeholders, KOLs, and scientific communities to deliver patient-focused solutions. Bring forward new ideas and approaches that challenge conventional thinking and create value.
- Operational excellence: Strengthen workflows and processes to scale growth.
What we're looking for:
- Senior experience in pharmaceutical or biotech sales or marketing leadership.
- Strong understanding of healthcare systems, regulations, and market dynamics.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, teams, and organisational structures.
- Skilled in sales strategy, brand management, and product lifecycle planning.
- Comfortable working in unstructured environments with an agile mindset.
- Able to think critically, connect ideas across functions, and bring practical solutions.
- Leadership style that supports co-creation, team partnership, and shared accountability.
- Awareness of external benchmarks and competitor positioning.
- Advanced degree in business, science, or healthcare (MBA preferred).
