This role is in the Takeda Japan Innovation Center (TJIC), as part of the global network of Innovation Capability Centers (ICCs). Our ICCs focus on delivering digital solutions across Takeda and building our internal digital capabilities to ensure we are future-ready.
TJIC collaborates with the global ICCs to supports our Japan based business units and functions with cutting-edge technologies such as AI and big data. As a TJIC member, you will work closely with Japan-based business units and functions while regularly collaborating with colleagues in global ICCs to exchange knowledge and drive innovation.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a Software Engineer – Digital Health (React/Low-Code), you will design and build digital health mobile applications using React Native (or similar frameworks) and enterprise low-code platforms like Mendix. You’ll also contribute full-stack components (TypeScript/JavaScript, React/Node.js; Java/.NET as needed), integrate AI/LLM features, and ensure solutions meet security, privacy, performance, and accessibility standards. This is a hands-on role where you develop, test, deploy, and continuously improve mobile apps in close partnership with product, design, data, and security teams.
Software Engineer – Digital Health（React／ローコード）として、React Native（または同等のクロスプラットフォーム技術）やMendixなどのエンタープライズ向けローコード基盤を活用し、デジタルヘルスのモバイルアプリを設計・開発します。さらに、AI/LLMをモバイル体験に統合し、セキュリティ・プライバシー・パフォーマンス・アクセシビリティ基準を満たすソリューションを実現します。プロダクト、デザイン、データ、セキュリティと緊密に連携し、アプリの開発・テスト・デプロイ・継続的改善をハンズオンで推進します。
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build and maintain mobile apps using React Native and low-code platforms (e.g., Mendix).
Deliver modern front- and back-end features (TypeScript/JavaScript, React/Node.js; Java/.NET where needed); write unit/integration tests and ensure high performance for global users.
Utilize APIs, connectors, and middleware to integrate systems; apply common integration patterns and data formats (REST/SOAP, JSON/XML).
Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and app distribution processes.
Ensure privacy, security, compliance, and accessibility are built-in from design to release.
Partner with design on usability/UI-UX, and collaborate via pull-request reviews; respond to feedback and code standards.
Work in an agile team: refine user stories, estimate work, demo increments with the Product Owner, and continuously deliver value.
Document best practices and contribute to continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential :
3+ years of mobile app development with React Native or similar frameworks.
Experience with low-code platforms (Mendix preferred).
Familiarity with AI/LLM integration in applications.
Strong understanding of cloud services and API integration; solid debugging and performance optimization.
Business level English.
Preferred :
Business level Japanese.
Experience in healthcare or regulated environments.
Knowledge of accessibility and security best practices.
Exposure to AWS (including serverless/PaaS) and modern DevOps practices.
