Public Affairs Communication

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Public Affairs:

  • Support PVA department in identifying tier-1 decision makers, key influencers and stakeholder groups including private or public institutions for existing and new products to establish / manage / extend professional relationships in close collaboration with Medical and Business Units

  • Serve as strategic advisor in strategic planning processes, particularly in relation to policymakers, payers and patients

  • Work with local and regional policy makers in relation to Health Policy

  • Participate in national level industry forums and market access working groups to represent company´s interest

  • Engage in health policy shaping activities in favor of the company´s interest to maximize access to Takeda´s products to a broad patient population, using smartly industry forums

  • Understand local legal and regulatory platform, its strengths and gaps, and can address it as a part of Public policy management

  • Together with PVA Head and GM anticipate and interactively discuss scientific, legal, financial and business topics with representatives to ensure business deals meet or exceed requirements

  • Positioning in market

  • Strengthen reputation of Takeda in market through positioning of company and differentiating initiatives (i.e. awareness campaigns, burden of disease reports) in line with Takeda’s values and strategy

  • Lead communications response for issues management processes, aligning with EUCAN Communications and other functions/ BUs, as appropriate. Develop appropriate monitoring and response systems (e.g. media/ social media)

  • Manage external communications activities, proactive and reactive (e.g. handling media requests)

  • Track campaigns, create measurements reports

  • Communications planning

  • Ensure compliance with Takeda corporate branding

  • Facilitate and support awareness of brand guidelines for appropriate brand management to enhance and reinforce Takeda’s positioning and reputation amongst key stakeholders, via:

  • Support with innovative communication platforms the LOC’s / ECO’s Roadmap (the strategic plan for the country); specifically, with the shift

  • towards being a leading bio-pharmaceutical player and the associated shift in mindset to this goal

  • Development of strategy and associated plans to enhance the reputation of the company’s local senior management team, collectively and as individuals

  • Ensuring local plans align with global / regional strategy

  • Maintaining two-way dialogue with key internal/ external stakeholders, as appropriate (e.g. input their needs into developing corporate communication and marketing plans and, in turn, to generate advocacy for the company’s activities)

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Proven ability to devise and execute a public affairs strategy

  • A proven record of writing for health policy and legislative stakeholders e.g. government consultation responses

  • Understanding of trends in the communications sector

  • Agility to learn, curiosity and external awareness, willingness to listen and rethink status quo

  • Ability to use appropriate levels of assertiveness and diplomacy when dealing with all levels of the organization and external contacts

  • Ability to work well with other departments and with multiple external stakeholders

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment characterized by rapid change • Strong enthusiasm, with a drive to succeed • Ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously and to deliver results

  • Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal presentation skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a corporate environment to achieve company goals

  • Facility and credibility in discussing medical disorders and treatments, sensitive company matters, patient and family issues

  • Ability to represent and portray the Takeda image with varied audiences

  • The highest degree of integrity, transparency and adherence to ethics standards in all activities

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Academic qualifications (e.g. post-graduate degree in communication management, public relations, journalism, corporate affairs or similar)

  • A track-record minimum of 5 years’ of successful policy development and policy influencing in the healthcare/pharmaceutical space, likely to have been delivered in a supervisory position in: - Another healthcare company - Public affairs department - Public affairs agency, with a focus on healthcare -A healthcare industry associations or directly working in Government (e.g. Special Advisor, Official etc.)

  • Experience of translating ‘business’ needs into policy positions, negotiation with internal stakeholders in developing these

  • Experience of developing and coordinating (responses to) Government consultation documents

  • Experience of working collaboratively with other stakeholders both internally and externally, to develop common policy positions, e.g. through industry association working groups etc.

  • Experience of management of relationships with external agencies.

  • Experience and exposure in international settings

  • Fluency in English and local language (mandatory)
