Data Scientist (Manufacturing Sciences)
About the role:
The Data Scientist is a new position within the Manufacturing Sciences function at the Bray site. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the Manufacturing Sciences data science strategy and ways of working. You will provide digital and data science support and leadership for small molecule drug products by identifying, implementing, and delivering local data science initiatives that improve process control, consistency and productivity.You will work with colleagues across Digital, Data and Technology, Automation, Manufacturing Sciences, Quality, and Global Manufacturing Sciences. You will report to the Head of Manufacturing Sciences and there are no direct people management responsibilities.
How you will contribute:
- Enable data-informed process understanding and proactive control of product and process performance.
- Support early detection of deviations and help resolve process and product issues.
- Perform data analysis and research to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities in manufacturing data.
- Develop data mining approaches, statistical reporting, and analysis methods to support decision-making.
- Apply data science methods, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, deep learning, and big data approaches, to local manufacturing challenges.
- Present complex data clearly through data visualization and concise explanations.
- Work with cross-functional colleagues to deliver digital and data science initiatives.
What you bring to Takeda:
- Master’s degree or doctoral degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Required: 2+ years of professional experience in data science, data analytics, or a related role.
- Hands-on experience with artificial intelligence, deep learning, machine learning, big data, and programming for data science applications.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, especially in small molecule drug product manufacturing, is preferred.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI and the ability to present data clearly.
- Process engineering experience is preferred.
- Experience with digital twins and process analytical technology is preferred.
- Experience with BIOVIA Discoverant and SIMCA software is preferred.
- Programming experience for data science and analytics applications.
