Job Description
Operations Team Leader
Job Purpose
At Takeda, our mission is to create better health for people and a brighter future for the world. As an Operations Team Leader, you will lead and develop a team of Production Technologists responsible for the manufacture and packaging of solid oral dosage products.
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will drive operational excellence by ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of production objectives, with a strong focus on Safety, Quality, People Development, and Continuous Improvement.
How you will contribute:
Leadership & People Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Production Technologists, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Support team members in achieving their full potential through effective performance management, regular feedback, and development planning.
- Create an inclusive and positive work environment that empowers employees to contribute, innovate, and deliver outstanding results.
- Provide clear direction and hands-on leadership within the production area to ensure operational goals are achieved safely and efficiently.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure consistent execution of the weekly production schedule while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and productivity.
- Monitor operational performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing effective solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve operational challenges and achieve shared business objectives.
- Drive adherence to standard work practices and promote a culture of operational discipline and excellence.
Quality, Compliance & Safety
- Champion a strong Quality Culture by ensuring full compliance with cGMP, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote and embed a proactive safety culture where safety is recognized as a core value and integral part of all business activities.
- Ensure timely reporting, investigation, and follow-up of accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Support audit readiness and contribute to maintaining inspection-ready operations at all times.
Continuous Improvement & Project Support
- Lead and support Continuous Improvement initiatives that enhance performance, reduce waste, and improve operational effectiveness.
- Participate in site and departmental projects focused on improving key process indicators and delivering sustainable business improvements.
- Support the successful introduction of new products, technologies, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
General Responsibilities
- Participate actively in cross-functional training and development initiatives.
- Demonstrate and promote Takeda-ism, living our values of Integrity, Fairness, Honesty, and Perseverance in all interactions and decisions.
- Ensure all required training, SOP reviews, assessments, and compliance activities are completed within established timelines.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments to support site objectives and foster a culture of teamwork and shared success.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management in support of business needs.
What you bring to Takeda:
Required
- Leaving Certificate (or equivalent qualification).
Preferred
- Degree qualification in Science, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 3–5 years' experience in a manufacturing leadership or supervisory role within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or similar industry.
- Experience working in a highly regulated or GMP environment.
- Proven involvement in Continuous Improvement initiatives and operational excellence programs.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills within a manufacturing environment.
- High attention to detail with excellent documentation and computer literacy skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to Safety, Quality, and Compliance.
- Ability to work shifts and provide operational support and coverage when required.
- Collaborative mindset with a passion for developing people and delivering results.
