Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role you will be responsible for leading customs and trade compliance across Europe and the ROW, supporting Takeda's regional distribution network. As the regional lead and business process owner, you will design, implement, and maintain best-in-class customs compliance frameworks, ensuring alignment with global standards and local regulations. You will work cross-functionally to drive excellence in compliance operations and risk mitigation, supporting Takeda’s commitment to patients, people, and the planet.

HOW YOU CONTRIBUTE

  • Act as subject matter expert and global business process owner for customs compliance within Takeda’s GMS network.

  • Define, maintain, and enforce global SOPs, controls, and governance models for key customs topics (e.g., classification, origin, valuation, FTA, special regimes).

  • Serve as primary point of contact for customs and trade compliance in the EU and ROW regions.

  • Lead development and delivery of training programs to build compliance capabilities across GMS sites.

  • Support risk owners and site leads in managing customs and controlled substances compliance risks.

  • Maintain oversight of SAP GTS data quality and act as product owner for customs compliance modules.

  • Manage customs broker selection, performance, and audit readiness across regional operations.

  • Lead compliance performance monitoring through KPIs, dashboards, and leadership reporting.

  • Represent Takeda with regulatory authorities, customs bodies, and external partners as required.

  • Drive continuous improvement and regional implementation of global trade compliance best practices.


WHAT YOU BRING TO TAKEDA

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in International Business, Logistics, Finance, or related field.

  • Proven expertise in international trade compliance, customs law, global regulatory frameworks and tariff management

  • Deep knowledge of European customs regulations, dual-use controls, and free trade agreements.

  • Strategic mindset with ability to translate legal requirements into practical business processes and drive mitigation strategies.

  • Strong SAP ECC & SAP GTS experience, particularly in customs and trade modules.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in global supply chain or trade compliance roles.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across functions and cultures.

  • Proficiency in English (required); fluency in another regional language preferred.

  • Analytical thinker with strong decision-making capabilities and risk-based approach.
